Alice Eve's Star Trek Into Darkness character has been revealed to be...

Dec. 11, 2012by: Alex Maidy

Spoiler alert! The following story will reveal plot details from STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS. If you wish to remain spoiler free for the film and the 9 minute reveal in front of showings of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY on December 14th, then turn back now!

Well, it looks like some fan theories may be getting closer and closer to confirmation. While the reveal yesterday that Benedict Cumberbatch was playing a character names John Harrison in STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS left many scratching their heads, it may have all been a big piece of misdirection by JJ Abrams and everyone at Paramount.

E Online has confirmed today that Alice eve is portraying a very well known character from the STAR TREK canon. She will be none other than Dr. Carol Marcus.

Carol Marcus played an integral role in STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN as both Kirk's estranged wife, mother to his son David, and the inventor of the Genesis Device. While introducing her in STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS does not mean that Cumberbatch is in fact playing Khan, the connections are certainly growing that he is.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS opens everywhere on May 17, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Why did they give Alice Eve the haircut of a twelve year old girl?

Maybe in conjunction with an earlier comment we should just maybe start going with the idea that John Harrison might be a combo of both Khan and Mitchell.

Am I the only one who thinks that Alice Eve's face is a little scary? I think it's her big forehead and those eyebrows, idk, but there's something off putting about it for me. But I digress. I'm not familiar with Khan or Gary Mitchell, but from everything I've read, it seems more like Mitchell. It could be they borrowed the Carol Marcus name for the film, or somehow integrated story elements from Wrath into this new film with Mitchell as the antagonist. I'm not a big Trek fan, so I'm not going

Looking forward to this movie

I'm not familiar with all of the original cannon for the characters, but if Abrams created a new time line in these films, does that mean that Carol Marcus has to hook up with Kirk? And even so, just having her around doesn't necessarily translate into Cumberbatch being Khan. (Just my two cents)

Long Term Setup

It still seems more like Gary Mitchell. From the Original Series episode about Mitchell, there was a line that Mitchell "aimed a cute blonde lab technician" at Kirk, and Kirk's reply was "I almost married her". To then use this line to tie in the "lab technician" with Carol Marcus for a set-up for a future Khan (or Project Genesis) sequel would be a pretty sweet setup with a long term payoff.

Agreed, that's exactly what I think too. Khan is just one of Star Trek's most well known villains so it's easier to point to him than anyone. Gary Mitchell was probably one of the best villains of Star Trek, To pass him up would be sinful for the sequel. Plus Abrams said in another interview that the villain is going to be a "good bad guy" and that reeks of Mitchell.

To each his own. Whatever you may think about the haircut, there's no denying that a ton of people immediately recognized her as Carol Marcus, and I'm certain the haircut was a big part of that. Personally, I think she looks gorgeous.

They pulled this shit on purpose. They deliberately made her look exactly like Elizabeth Dehner just to throw us off. It's either that, or they're flat out lying to us.

I'm under the impression that John Harrison is a cross between Khan and Mitchell, but I do like the idea ericArk suggested of this being a prequel of the sorts of Khan's quarantine.

I'm starting to wonder that myself if Abrams just went and took the super human and intelligent qualites of Khan and then morphed them with the god-like abilities that Mitchell would have developed.

Since the crew was quite a bit older in 'Khan' wouldn't it make sense to set up the love interest for Kirk now, so they could be estranged at a later date? Also, this could be the Khan prequel where they dump his ass on the deserted planet - that is just speculation.
