Which format of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey did you see this weekend?

Just plain ol' regular 2D for me.
Saw the standard-definition version, but in 3D.
Checked out that HFR (48 FPS) 3D.
Great big IMAX 3D!
I saw more than one format!
None -- everything was sold out!
None yet, waiting for the crowds to die down.
No format of The Hobbit interests me, to be honest.

I don't know if it was the low expectations but...

I actually enjoyed the high frame rate. I saw it first in normal format and next time around watched it in 48fps. While many scenes looked awkward, a lot more look great. The CGI looked considerably better in the high frame rate and certain characters (the 3 trolls, Gollum) looked almost completely real. I don't know if its the future of cinema, but at least it was a interesting and different experience. But that's just me.

HFR 3D. Very strange but I got used to it. Now dying to see it in 2D...

I saw IMAX 3D twice. Standard 2D once and about 2 mins of HFR. I gotta say Standard 2D felt the best. It was just...consistent with the LOTR films and wearing those glasses for 3 hours gets annoying. Hurts my nose and temples and I constantly have to refocus on other people on the screen cause of the 3D.

HFR (UltraAVX)

Saw it in the 48fps 3D format. Best looking movie I have ever seen. I don't understand the hate. Avatar for example I only liked because it looked good... I have no reason to like it anymore.

On opening night I saw it in standard definition with 3D, and I just returned from a seconding viewing in standard 2D. I was hoping to catch it in IMAX, perhaps for the third trip, if not, I'll be seeing part 2 in IMAX.

Saw it on regular 2D where I watch all my films. I loved the flick. I have no pacing issues, yes some scenes would have been shortened down but I was too invested into the film to actually care. I liked it better then both two towers and return of the king. Cant wait for the second one.

HFR

Saw the 48fps version. I was really curious to find out what it looked like, and well, everyone was pretty much right. It just looks like smooth motion on an HDTV.

Although, that might not be entirely fair, there were some occasions where it didn't look abysmal and I thought "yeah, I guess that looks kind of real" but then the camera would move and the whole thing became embarrassing again.

I wouldn't mind seeing the movie again in 24fps 2D. I was far too distracted to give a critical

I saw it in XD HFR 3D 3 times and 24 fps IMAX 3D once. To be honest, I actually preferred the 48 fps on the movie. It is distracting for a minute but I quickly got over it and it just looks nicer.

48 fps

it made the 3D far less blurry and dark and made some of the action scenes leap out. a few scenes however had that hyper realistic bbc tv look that has baffled me since childhood. mainly, it was during the invasion of Smaug when dwarves were running for the hills. those crowd scenes looked bizarre. otherwise. i dug it.

Haven't seen it, but will definitely go see next week. I've been meaning to ask: should I check it out in 48fps 3D????

None really, I might check it out on TV some day, but it's just not my cup of tea.

I saw it in the not-so-big "fake" IMAX 3D, because my real IMAX theater didn't have the Star Trek intro attached. I'll probably check it out in 48fps just to say I did, although I can almost guarantee I'll despise it (that "smooth-motion" effect on TVs is absolutely unbearable). On top of that I might see it again in 2D and real IMAX.
