Martin Scorsese to direct documentary on Bill Clinton for HBO

Dec. 17, 2012by: Niki Stephens

HBO has announced via Twitter that Martin Scorsese will be doing a documentary on William Jefferson Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States. The doc will cover the former president's dual terms in office and his work in politics after. This will be the second HBO documentary that Scorsese has done. The first being GEORGE HARRISON: LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD which was released in October of last year.

This is what Scorsese had to say about the project, "A towering figure who remains a major voice in world issues, President Clinton continues to shape the political dialogue both here and around the world. Through intimate conversations, I hope to provide greater insight into this transcendent figure."

Clinton also chimed in, "I am pleased that legendary director Martin Scorsese and HBO have agreed to do this film. I look forward to sharing my perspective on my years as President, and my work in the years since, with HBO’s audience."

If you are wondering if any detailed coverage of Clinton's affairs would be included, it's too early to tell. While the whole film should not significantly highlight that, I hope that it digs deeper. I'd like to hear some updated thoughts on that as well as some other significant topics (Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Black Hawk Down) that came up during his term.

More propaganda. Great. I hope it details how Clinton sold America to China by way of how stupid he is.

Or when his wife let's 4 people die in Benghazi and then fakes an illness to avoid her trial for it.
This is early damage control for her already failed run for president in 2016. Unless obama is impeached before then *crosses fingers*.
Martin Scorsese probably just bought a couple new mansions with the money they're paying him for this.
I hate being awake for all this propaganda. I love TV and I can't watch NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, and I have to selectively scan HBO for anything actually

New Perspective?

While I'm both a fan of Scorsese's films and a supporter of Clintonian governance, there seems to be little left to document from the Clinton legacy. The latest was a 4-part documentary from PBS's American Experience titled Clinton, and prior to that were countless biographies from both insiders and outsiders. What trivializes this subject matter is the age in which we live. Mass-media has broadcast the Clinton story in real time, and most everyone in their adulthood has already heard the

Mass-media has broadcast the Clinton story in real time, and most everyone in their adulthood has already heard the story time and time again. Still, that being so, I love Clinton and I love Scorsese. I'll be watching as soon as it premieres on HBO and require no spoiler alerts.

Clinton started the recession though. I've read quotes from Congress saying that and someone from Clinton's own administration saying that.....Does none of that bother you?

I love that I got a thumbs from a schmoe and that the schmoe didn't explain why he thought what I said was wrong or bad...So how does he know if what I said is wrong when he hasn't said a word about it or asked me about it?......How marvelous.

People are allowed to rate you if you put your opinions out there. It doesn't say, "rate what I say, but give a description to justify it." How marvelous....

Uhhh, I know.....I was just saying that I find it ridiculous. The schmoe that gave me the thumbs down probably knows nothing about what I mentioned.

I'm giving this a thumbs down, not because of Scorsese, but because of Clinton.

Bush helped continue to the recession by adding to it, but it was Clinton that started it. I have read quotes from Congress saying that and someone from Clinton's own administration saying that.

An HBO documentary on Bill Clinton by a Hollywood director?

Yeah, this should be a pretty fair take on the subject.
