Watch the full song "One Day More" from Les Miserables

Dec. 20, 2012by: Alex Maidy

As the release of LES MISERABLES approaches, I am getting more and more interested in seeing it. With the release of this video, I am more impressed than before with the look and sound of the film. Tom Hooper really seems to have hit a home run by choosing to have the actors sing live versus a pre-recorded lip sync.

The clip comes courtesy of La Sexta.com which accounts for the subtitles, but was shared by Reddit users like crazy.

The song, "One Day More", is sung by the majority of the main cast and gives us our first look at a complete scene from LES MISERABLES. Check it out.

Impressed? At first, Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried sounded a little off to me, but as Russell Crowe and Samantha Barks joined it, the song got better and better. Also, the appearance of Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter was a nice surprise. We have not seen much of them in any clips so far.

I am not a big musical fan but I am open to having my mind changed and LES MISERABLES may just be the movie to do it.

LES MISERABLES opens everywhere on Christmas Day.

Hmmmm.....

Well its not the best version I have heard and believe me this show is a pleasure of mine, even as a 39 yo heterosexual male when I saw it live many years ago it was jaw dropping. Some decent performances in there but Seyfried is not a singer at all. Even HBC sounds better than she does and whilst I think Crowe is a great actor, his voice isn't right for Javert.
Either way I will happily watch this. It made me think again of the following parody though:

*sigh*

I'm sorry, but as mediocre Redmayne and Seyfried were, whoever is playing Enjolras friggin blew it. That's supposed to be his MOMENT of rallying the troops and he comes out singing like he's just chilling at the pub? I'm not saying they have to be just like the stage version, but every time I see in, Enjolras comes bounding out, rifle held high over his head, ready to fight.

This is one of my favorite numbers and I had to turn it off halfway through. I know I know, "But wait, Crowe killed

Yikes

Although it was only for a few seconds, I was surprised how much SBC looked AND sounded like Peter Cooke (when he did stuff with Dudley Moore back in the day). Kinda freaky. Jackman did sound a little odd; I know he's quite a good singer, having heard him in Oklahoma! and such - maybe it makes better sense in the context of the rest of the film. I'm sure this will probably make a mint at the box office, regardless.

This film is truly remarkable!

I absolutely loved the film (having no knowledge of the songs or the plot going in). The songs are great and so are the performances. I think Jackman is fantastic and Hathaway is a shoo-in for Best Supporting Actress and Hooper deserves recognition for directing. The film contains so many emotions as well, making it truly Epic. I urge you all to see it and give it a chance, it is in my Top 5 films of 2012 List. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

Looks great

I'm definitely gonna try to see this, the only downside I've been hearing is Amanda's Siegfried singing.

Are you guys deaf?!

This is AWFUL! Jackman sounds like an over-zealous lead in a community theatre production. Fuck damn that is the second worst vibrato I've ever heard. Crowe sounds like a deaf person, Seyfried sounds like a rat, Redmayne sounds like he has an apple lodged in his throat, and the Thenardiers sound like they're in a totally different song, tempo and all. It looks like they filmed it in a broom-cupboard, too. What a horrible disappointment, I have my tickets booked and everything. How did a group

How did a group of professionals convene and throw together something so damn amateur?!

Finally footage of Aaron Tveit as Enjolras. If the movie is done right he'll be remembered as one of the most epic, inspirational characters in the movie.

It's nice to see the trolls below commenting on something they clearly have no interest in. I think that speaks for itself.
Having watched this clip now several times, and the just released (in its entirety) "At The End Of The Day", I'm optimistic, though my first viewing of this number was quite jarring. The rapid-fire editing and transitions are off-putting at first, though they make sense.
Seyfried isn't up to the part, vocally, however, she'll act it superbly, as will Crowe. Barks played

I also really enjoy the concept for the portion with the Thenadiers; it's totally appropriate.

Well, to be fair, Miguel just said it wasn't for him - that's not trolling. LickMyLovePump - he's never posted anything intelligent on this site, so I wouldn't expect him to start now.

I think the rapid-fire overlays are necessary, considering they are fitting a massively long musical into a movie with an acceptable running time.

Boy did that ever suck....

But at least Russell Crowe didn't make it worse. ;-)
