Soul Plane - September 7

Come fly the unfunny skies! Change the setting of Barbershop to an airline, throw in a token white guy (Tom Arnold) who will be berated for an hour and a half (or however long it takes you to get out of your seat and leave the theatre) and this is what you get. To say this is a remake or reimagining of Airplane! is both blasphemous and just plain rude, man. Anyway, this comes in a Rated and Un-Rated edition.

Includes:

  • Commentary with selected cast
  • The Upgrade - Featurette
  • Boarding Pass - Making of Featurette
  • Unplugged: Season 4 Outtakes
  • Survivor Safety Video
  • Outtakes
  • Photo Gallery
  • 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Tracks

The Un-Rated Edition also includes "five-minutes of racy additional footage". Turn on MTV at any time of the day for a preview of that.

"Nice to meet you, call me Whitey."

Resident Evil (DE) - September

I don't know, maybe it's me but this whole "let's release a special edition DVD before the sequel comes out" practice is getting really frickin' old. It's exploitation and blackmail but hey, I'm preaching to the choir here. Buy this if you're so enamored with Michelle Rodriguez and that look on her face. Yeah, you know the look I'm talking about. Lighten up, hun!

Includes:

  • Audio Commentary with Cast and Filmmakers
  • Audio Commentary with the Visual Effects Crew
  • Alternate Ending with Director's Introduction
  • Resident Evil: Apocalypse Fangoria Clip Compilation
  • Resident Evil from Game to Screen Featurette
  • Storyboarding Resident Evil Featurette
  • Scoring Resident Evil Featurette
  • The Creature Featurette
  • The Elevator Featurette
  • The Laser Featurette
  • The Zombie Dogs Featurette
  • Zombies Featurette
  • Costumes Featurette
  • Secret Design Featurette
  • The Train Featurette
  • Filmographies and Bonus Previews
  • Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
  • English, French, Portuguese, Spanish Subtitles
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Track
  • French Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Track
  • Portuguese Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Trac

Exhibit A: That look.

Star Trek (S1): - August 31

Who knew that Captain Kirk would take, "...to boldly go where no man's gone before" so literal by banging a green alien chick. What man can say he's gotten some inter-galactic tang? Only Shatner can. The whole 29 episode first season is here on eight discs and comes in a pretty cool case. So cool (and convienient), you can easily hide it behind you're TV when your lady friend comes over. Your paid lady friend. Sigh, Shatner is The Man. To the right is the US release and below is the totally bomb Japanese Box set that contains all three original seasons for the low price of 94,200 Yen. So if you have a region free DVD player and roughly $900 US, spring for this puppy and be the envy of all two of your friends.

Species - October 19

Fans of Natasha Henstridge and Mr. Blond are stoked about this new edition coming out, for no other reason than to see a very naked Natasha shake what her momma gave her while turning into an alien. Mr. Blonde watches it all.

Includes:

  • New commentary with director Roger Donaldson, Michael Madsen and Natasha Henstridge
  • Commentary with Donaldson, producer Frank Mancuso Jr., visual effects supervisor Richard Edlund and makeup effects creator Steve Johnson
  • Species III sneak peek and trailer
  • 2.5 Anamorphic Widescreen
  • English and French DD 5.1 tracks and DTS Surround tracks

  • Click here to read an interesting tidbit on the possiblilty of two Anchorman DVDs, the theatrical release and something called, "Wake up, Ron Burgundy". I'm loving it already. Thanks to Dark Horizons for that.
