I just hope that after all the hype it's actually a good movie. The trailers have been awesome at building anticipation for this flick but that could all change once the movie hits.

75-100

Superman has it's fans but i always found that Batman's world was more interesting. Superman is just too powerful plus he's too much of a boyscout which doesn't appeal to me that much. I'll see it just because i'm curious to see what Snyder did with the Man of Steel but i'm seeing This is the End first before i see Supes.

yes I did see an advance screening on the Naval Base here in California, something they do from time to time for military and their families. No one was that impressed from what I could tell and kids seemed bored. You may enjoy it but it doesn't follow the Superman 'canon' and I didn't care for what happens to Zod - lame storyline. I also didn't care for Amy Adams [I think she's a great actress] as Lois Lane...just didn't seem right to me.

Even Zod will see this movie. Hope it does super well. Someone needs to stand next to Batman.

I love all the thumbs down for people being honest saying the movie is just alright. The Internet is trying to hype this movie so hard, and nothing so far has made it loo any better than an over dramatic, trying to live up to Batman, floating turd. This movie will obviously open number 1. All the fanboys won't admit how mediocre it is. And then it'll plummet. Not even older Superman fan are excited to see this, my father says he's seen enough Superman movies for 2 lifetimes. Superman has plain

LMAO.. You're Making this prediction on the fact that your old ass father does'nt want to see it.. LOL.. I would love to place bets with you on a regular basis. The Buzz on MAN OF STEEL is ridiculous. People are looking at this as a sort of sequel to THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY in the same way they looked at IRON MAN 3 as a sequel to THE AVENGERS. And that Batman floating turd trilogy you speak of has made over 2.5 Billion Worlwide. But since your father saids he does'nt want to see it, I gueess

Wouldn't a thumbs down represent a movie that wasn't good? Alright means it was better than bad, not great but it was ok or good. Why would you love seeing someone thumbs down a movie that didn't turn out bad?

Everyone I know seems to be hyped about this movie, which is rather unusual considering some of the stiffs I work with. I expect it to top 150 mil. It'll gross a billion easy, globally.

Caught this film at an advanced screening. Its not great, but worth seeing on the big screen. When the action kicks in it is fun as hell. Outside of the action it is kind of messy. It obviously retreads similar themes as Donner's film and Smallville, except here the characters actually have long drawn out conversations about their own themes.

Remember in the Donner film how we know that Superman's 'S' doesn't stand for superman, and that it is actually a family crest, because we simply see Jor-El wearing it? Here they'll hit you over the head over & over with this fact, as if it is unique to the film. You know, because us retarded audience members can't understand things unless its thoroughly explained to us through dialog.

Outside of the film occasionally talking down to the audience, a messy script, and slow moments that try too hard to capture the formula of Nolan's Batman, it manages to be enjoyable. The visuals are stunning, there are some very solid dramatic moments (Costner & Crowe own every moment they are on screen), and seeing Superman kicking ass will put a smile on anyone's face.

Overall it is an enjoyable film, if you don't think too much about it.

Wow, give a film a good review and get thumbs downed for not calling it "a masterpiece of cinema". Fanboys, learn to think for yourselves instead of letting hyperbole do your thinking for you.

hahaha, thumbs up for that last statement alone.

Derk, unfortunately it is a common thread on this site, Badmouth Nolan or anything he's involved in and you're gonna be booed for it. You're gonna deal with fanboys/trolls/jerks that haven't seen the movie but will defend it until their last breath. Just how it is.

However your review has got me wondering, I'll keep an eye out for all the downtalking to the audience it does and see if you're right on that. However, if the film is trying to

no way this movie makes more than IM3. zack snyder isnt exactly a director popular with middle america, and people still feel burned by singer's superman. this movie will do well, but won't come close to $400m.

Alreay being projected to make more than $100 million! June this year is a weak month, so it may open soft until after 1st weekend, and if it's great then it will own the entire month.

Saw and advance showing and while it may make a lot opening weekend it will drop fast; the best thing about it was Russell Crowe. I think Christopher Nolan has run his course...

he uses the same formula he did in the Dark Knight; flashbacks to childhood etc...nothing new which may be difficult with a origin story. He doesn't follow the comic much and the storyline is kind of lame. like you said we are entitled to our personal opinion and I expressed mine - anytime I start looking at my watch during a movie then to me it's not very good. I was bored - I'm glad I got a free ticket cause otherwise I would have asked for my money back.

its gonna do well

i know this will at least be around 120 million, it may surprise us, many werent expecting avengers pulling in the amount that it did opening weekend, and i know it was successful because of previous films, but lets facts, beside batman and spiderman, superman is one of the most recognizable character in comics to those who do even read comics. so this film could surprise us all. i dont know, maybe im just rambling like i periodically do from time to time. Wish we had a review of the film

It should get very close to 125 million. But may not cross it. It is already tracking at 109 million dollars with 5 days left until release so that is a sign it will get very close to 125 million maybe more.

I think that opening weekend it won't make as much as Iron Man 3 but in the long run it'll be the biggest moneymaker of the year. Won't make as much as Iron Man 3 in opening weekend because Iron Man has a recently established franchise and because Superman Returns may have put people off.

However, assuming that this is the Superman film we have all been waiting for with Superman punching the shit out of his enemies and a quality villain I think that the positive buzz will encourage everyone

$100-125

I don't see this pulling in Iron Man 3 numbers. I want this to be huge, but I don't think it's going to smash records as some have said.

Agree. To get Ironman numbers, this should be a sequel, but since its the introduction of this new version and cast, it will get around 100m. More would be awesome, but lets see what happens

If it were a sequel to I assume you mean Superman Returns, it would probably make significantly less because that movie came out almost 7 years ago and it received negative criticism from the audience and fans.

to roy batty - when he said "if this was a sequel" he meant if it was a sequel to this particular franchise, not the old one or Bryan Singer one.

I'm sure it's already surpassed iron man tho so I'm sticking with 200 mil +
