You know,

I really enjoyed the hell out of THIS IS THE END and crown it as King of the Summer so far. Yeah, it's a raunchy comedy but it had a sweet center to it that I just couldn't help but notice even days after I saw it. MAN OF STEEL, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, IRON MAN 3, and a few others are all terrific but I had too much fun with THIS IS THE END. Definitely a highlight for my summer.

I'm going to have to say Man of Steel. I was close to going to see Star Trek Into Darkness, but couldn't really afford it. The only movies I saw so far was Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel, I make it a point to see the superhero flicks of the summer.

I thought Star Trek Into Darkness and Man of Steel have both been head and shoulders above the rest of the movies this summer and really delivered that all around aspect of an exciting, action-packed summer movie with a ton of drama, fun and solid acting across the board... I see the votes reflect that too, so I'm glad you guys feel the same.

Man of Steel with Star Trek a close second. Both epitomize what a summer blockbuster should be.

Mud

Not just for this summer, but Mud is my favorite movie so far this year. It has a great character driven story, McConaughey was surprisingly good, and the child actors were superb. I believe it's coming out on DVD early next month, so if anything give it a rent.

Took the words right out of my mouth. The only other movie I saw this year that was as emotionally effective as Mud was The Place Beyond The Pines. They are duelling for my top spot but I think I'd have to give it to Mud.

'Star Trek Into Darkness' was hands down the best movie of the summer so far. 'Man of Steel' and 'Mud' were both really good movies too.

Iron Man 3 and Star Trek hit the high expectations that I went in with for me. Great action, genuine heart, humour and wit as well as a obviously loved continuation of their respective franchises. I know there's been a lot of backlash about The Mandarin in Iron Man 3, and whilst I get people's complaints, I for one was to busy utterly pissing myself in tears of laughter to muster up any annoyance at it. Everyone was expecting the normal comic book movie tropes, and when IM3 utterly span it

I know there's been a lot of backlash about The Mandarin in Iron Man 3, and whilst I get people's complaints, I for one was to busy utterly pissing myself in tears of laughter to muster up any annoyance at it. Everyone was expecting the normal comic book movie tropes, and when IM3 utterly span it around on them, giving them a social commentary on the "big evil terrorist super-villain with a silly accent" everyone flipped their shit in what I thought was an incredibly ballsy and hilarious move, in a movie which STILL went on to give us some incredible "boss fight" action scenes both during those moments and afterwards.

This is the End was far more entertaining than I hoped for. Having a bit of burn-out from that particular group of actors at this point I was surprised how well the high concept idea worked to keep the interest and intrigue up in-between some solid laughs. Really glad I took the time to see it on a whim.

Man of Steel was painfully average. I was hoping to compare it to the first two Batman movies in how it helped worked to define a character, but it was upsetting to end up comparing it to a humorless Transformers, which would be an insult to any film. Whilst it looked visually fine to start with, by the end it was just a mish-mash of frantic camera-work, sloppy editing, massive plot holes, everyone talking in drawn out meaningful speeches instead of having actual conversations and an absolute lack of charm, hope, or uplifting nature of the Superman character. It was essentially Batman again, but with powers, which is not even close to what Superman is, infact he's the thematic OPPOSITE of Batman...that's kind of he point of them both. And that's before even getting to him killing thousands of people or Pa Kent, the character who is supposed to inspire him to be caring and good...is constantly telling him to hide away his uniqueness, be utterly average and let a bus full of kids die before being telling his son to let him get sucked up by a FUCKING TORNADO(??) in a ridiculous scene which was somehow supposed to be heartbreaking but was just over-the-top, dumb and utterly against everything Clark Kent is.

Star Trek into Darkness

I was probably looking forward to MOS more but came out of the cinema thinking I had whiplash from its pacing. That's not to say I didn't love MOS I just had a better cinematic experience with STID.

Hangover a no no for me this season

Hangover 3 was disappointing in respect to the first two parts..worst of all there was no hangover involved. The European (amsterdam) idea was awesome wish they had used that.

this voting place should have different genre categories to vote!

Every genre had something to offer..so separate voting for different types of films would have been better.

Man of Steel easily best of summer.
Kind of surprised World War Z did not drop more, advertised as an action film it turned out to be more of a medical thriller and a bit dull.
Monster U was disappointing mainly because original was so great.
With a lack of kids film this season guess it's the only real choice til Despicable Me 2 opens (kids seem to love those minions.)

Star Trek Into Darkness is so far the movie that hit all cylinders for me. Great action, plot, acting, and Benedict Cumberbatch made for such a memorable villain. I honestly thought Man of Steel was going to be Numero Uno for me, but while it was enjoyable, it didn't resonate with me the way some of the best superhero movies have done. However, I still feel it warrants a 2nd viewing.

Star Trek Into Darkness, hands down. I'm a big DC fan and I did enjoy Man of Steel a whole bunch, but in terms of sheer entertainment and a really good time at the theatres, Star Trek Into Darkness has yet to be beat this year.

Man Of Steel..

..was awesome. It's far, far from perfect with a dozen plotholes and then some, but as far as fun summer movies are concerned, Man Of Steel takes the throne. I'd watch it again for Hans Zimmer's score alone.

Considering I have only seen Iron Man 3, Fast & Furious 6 & Hangover Part III (I do have a job & a life). I would have to say Fast & Furious 6. I still plan to see Man of Steel hopefully, but until i do, I am sticking with my choice & not by what others say.

Enjoyed a lot of movies but no favourite so far.

NOTE: Henry Cavill in Man of Steel was a great hero and Benedic Cumberbatch in Stark Trek was a terrific villain. Robert Downey Jr. ownes Tony Stark as usual. DiCaprio should be nominated.

Man of Steel.

I absolutely loved Star Trek Into Darkness. I think it's among the best summer blockbusters of the decade, but I loved Man of Steel even more and would call it the best movie of this summer without any hesitation.

This is the End

it was the only movie that really surprised me so far.

Iron Man 3 and Star Trek into Darkness were both good but i was kind of expecting spectacular. Superman was a little less than i was expecting (still entertaining). And everything else has been the typical summer movie. What looked good, mostly turned out good, and i managed to stay away from the bad movies because they looked bad from the trailer. "This is the End" was the only film of the summer so far to look iffy but still turn out

I really hope "Pacific Rim" delivers on all points and becomes the summers best movie (since no film seems to take the spot so far)

like most summers, movies are flashy but pretty empty. But seems more so this year than others. Acting and special effects great, stories and direction not so much. But I guess that's because of the studio guys more than anything else.

I've found this summer to be rather lacking, with Iron Manlet 3 and Man of Meh both disappointing. Even Star Trek was sub-par in comparison to the 09 reboot. When the sixth installment of a franchise is, so far, the best blockbuster this year, there's a problem.

Ultimately, I didn't vote for anything. A "fun" movie isn't always a good one, but then there haven't really been any "fun" movies this summer either. Hopefully some later realeses like Elysium can turn things around.

It's between Star Trek and Furious 6. I'm not a fan of Star Trek but that movie was pretty damn good. Maybe that's why I liked it so much because I don't follow Star Trek so I didn't have any expectations. Whereas, someone who knows the Trek universe well, could've been disappointed with the movie.

I was looking forward to the superhero movies, Man of Steel and Iron Man 3. But I enjoyed the heck out of Fast and Furious 6 - I guess it is technically a superhero movie with the jumps that Vin Diesel was doing.

I haven't seen Star Trek 2 yet though.

No Clear Winner

I feel like we've been getting some good movies this summer, but there hasn't been one that has just blown me away and really taken the reins of the summer box office. If I'm completely honest, I have to say I enjoyed Fast and Furious 6 the most of all the movies I've seen. But it's only a faction or so above the other movies, and that's only because I felt it was a really fun, popcorn, summer flick.

Nothing really

I thought Man of Steel was going to blow me away, I liked it, but wasn't totally in love with it. Looking forward to a sequel. Star Trek was great, but it didn't really add to the Trek mythology, and didn't take it anywhere new. Liked the end part.

I don't know if it is the "best" movie, but Fast & Furious 6 was the most fun I've had watching a movie this summer, followed by Star Trek into darkness and this is the end. Maybe my expectations were too high for Man of Steel and Iron Man 3, but even though there were parts of each I liked, I didn't seem to enjoy them as much as others.

Maybe my expectations were too high for Man of Steel and Iron Man 3, but even though there were parts of each I liked, I didn't seem to enjoy them as much as others.

So far, it's a tie between Star Trek Into Darkness and Man of Steel.

Your vote makes no sense. This is the End is your favorite movie so far this summer, but you did not vote for it? You voted for your favorite "blockbuster" type movie? Why wouldn't you vote for The is the End, as the pol is specifically wanting to know your favorite movie so far this summer.

So far I've only seen Iron Man 3, Star Trek ID, and Man of Steel. All have their own problems, but I suppose IM3 is the best comparatively. I'd like to think The Is The End would be my favorite if only I can find the time to see it.
