@#$&ing ads!!!!!!

What the fuck is with the ads?
I usually read JoBlo on my mobile, and the popups are goddamb ridiculous. If your going to have full page popup ads, at least have the courtesy to have a way to close them, so you can read the article you clicked on. As it is (now), I click and close the same link a dozen times until the sumbitchin Reebok ad doesn't popup, and I can read the page I intended to...

Sorry to go "Afflack as Batman," but when I'm taking a break from work, I just want to read some movie news and not go through another hassle.

Pacific rim, but It was nothing amazing.to me, the entire summer was disappointing. Seems that way every year following a Nolan Dark Knight film.

Mud

Mud was my favorite movie that happened to come out this summer, even though it isn't your typical summer blockbuster. If we're talking my favorite summer movie in that regard, Monsters University is the winner.

This is the End won it for me, with The Conjuring and Kick-Ass 2 following. Still need to see The World's End however.

Everyone has their own opinions but...

All 3 of the major superhero films let me down to some extent this summer, although the one that let me down the least was The Wolverine (although to be fair, that may in part be because I had the lowest expectations going into it). The only two major films this summer that really surprised me and I ended up wholeheartedly enjoying were World War Z and Pacific Rim, and again I went into both of those with tempered expectations (WWZ because of all the nonsense during production and Pacific Rim

Interestingly, while I'm sure expectations played a part in how much I enjoyed these films, there's been other films which my expectations were sky high for (The Avengers, The Dark Knight even Skyfall) and they totally delivered. So, to say that I or any movie-goer was let down by these films because our expectations were too high, I believe is a bit of a cop-out.

This is the End and World's End (TIE)

None of this year's big blockbusters appealed to me that much. I thought Iron Man 3 was alright and Man of Steel was better than i expected. The two films that i thought made this summer have to be This Is The End and The World's End. Both were original in story and comedy.

Man of Steel for me. Granted this year I didn't get out to the movies as much as I wanted. I liked Iron Man 3 but not as much as I wished I would. Man of Steel was way better than I expected. Pacific Rim was a lot of fun.

The Wolverine and The Conjuring. A Superhero movie that was more character study and consumed a role of a ronin got my number one. The Conjuring was a great surprise and great alternative to the other blockbusters. The World's End was perfect.

MUD

Mud is the best film of the summer (a close 2nd is Before Midnight). I'm assuming most people have not seen it yet... do yourself a favor and check it out. The other 3 I would put on the list is The Conjuring, The World's End and Pacific Rim. Based on my expectations, the biggest disappointment of the summer was Man of Steel.

I loved The World's End, Pacific Rim, The Way Way Back and especially Monsters University. But most of the best movies this summer aren't even on the list, such as: Before Midnight, Frances Ha, Short Term 12, and The Spectacular Now. Regardless, there were definitely some big stinkers this summer (Man of Steel, Elysium, World War Z) but on the whole I found a lot to enjoy, to varying degrees of course.

Before Midnight is the best movie of the summer, by far. On this list, I'd say the top three are Pacific Rim, This Is the End, and Now You See Me (terrible ending, I know. Still a fun ride)

The Way Way Back

The Way Way Back is my favorite film of the summer. I thought it was great, with a really good story. And the film was very well written.

But it's also a tie though as my favorite summer film along with Before Midnight. A film, which I think is the best film of the year and also the most perfectly made.

I'll probably get some haters for this, but

Of that list I saw:
Iron Man 3
The Wolverine
This Is The End
World War Z
Man Of Steel

And for me, it was a tie between World War Z and This Is The End. I voted for World War Z, because even though it's a zombie movie without blood, I appreciate they had courage to do a Zombie blockbuster movie.

Iron Man 3 was hands down the most fun I had at the theater this summer. It was essentially Lethal Weapon but with exo-suits. Loved the Mandarin twist and I think it's great that they're not directly pulling from the comics. Extremis was pretty well done, though more toned down than the comic. Fast 6 is in a close second, but I liked Fast 5 much much better than it, Wolverine was a solid movie but not the level of greatness I had hoped it would have been. Pacific Rim was cool, but I don't think

Still need to see Worlds End and Elysium! 2015 is gonna be the mother of all summers!

The Conjuring

After a pretty horrible 2013 summer movie season I think The Conjuring is the movie people will end up talking about 20 years from now. After that I've got Man of Steel, simply because I went in with zero expectations and was decently surprised.

The ones I really wound up liking this summer were the ones with either lousy trailers, or ones not on my radar. Really dug Monsters U, The Wolverine, World's End (trailers weren't good) Pacific Rim, This Is The End and some smaller movies. It was the giant movies that I was dying to see that disappointed me. The World's End - a comedy! - shouldn't have had more exciting and fun action scenes than Star Trek or Man of Steel, which featured massive scenes of destruction that cost a fortune!

well i cant give a proper vote on this poll since i have yet to see certain films. but i will say at the beginning of the year, there was alot of great expectations about alot of these films that didnt deliver like many of us hoped. though i believe that alot of these films werent complete failures, they didnt turn out to be the best either. but of the films on the list i did see, I think War World Z came out on top for me cuz i had the opposite opinion about it, thinking it would suck when it

For me the top 4 so far all somewhat disappointed me although I enjoyed each to a degree. In that order I would have put Iron Man 3, Pacific Rim, Star Trek and then Man of Steel. I thought The Wolverine was better than all of them and though Fast 6 was really good too. Still I went with The Conjuring, just because it brought something different. I had no complaints at all with this movie and enjoyed from start to finish. Great atmosphere and not once did I wish it was something different than

You know what, I think this was a good summer at the movies. Not as good as 2012, but good. My favourite film this past summer was Star Trek Into Darkness. I know the stalwarts have many a bone to pick with the film, but it exemplified everything a blockbuster should be. It was entertaining (I was swept up from the very first minute), filled with action and spectacle, had plenty of fun character moments (it was great seeing that cast so comfortable in their roles), had a badass villain in the

It was entertaining (I was swept up from the very first minute), filled with action and spectacle, had plenty of fun character moments (it was great seeing that cast so comfortable in their roles), had a badass villain in the form of Cumberbatch's "John Harrison" and had a good deal of humour and heart. As a DC fan, I did enjoy Man of Steel. I think it's an adequate foundation on which to build a proper DC cinmeatic universe, and I think it did push the character forward - something Superman Returns was unable to do. Pacific Rim was loads of fun as well; it stands apart from the "loud, noisy blockbuster" pack by dint of Guillermo del Toro being at the helm. That guy's enthusiasm, creativity and heart was really evident amidst the boyhood fantasy monsters vs. robots action. And yeah, I liked Iron Man 3 too. Maybe they shouldn't have done the fakeout with the character's most significant villain, but it was a ballsy thing to do and for me at least, didn't feel like too much of a cop out (speaking as someone who doesn't feel strongly about the Mandarin as a character).

Man of Steel? Really?

The fact that Man of Steel is leading shows just how much this website is a fanboy movie wankfest. This is the End, Star Trek, and The Conjuring are the only legitimately great movies this summer (not including indies). Monsters University, World War Z, and Iron Man 3 were good, but not great.

WTF? Lone Ranger for me, but, not even on the list.

win, lose or draw...where the fuck is lone ranger? didn't see as many movies this summer as I used to...seeing as my movie buddy, my son, began working at the Golden Arches for a few summer bucks. Saw Man of Steel, Elysium, and Lone Ranger. (worlds end is this weekend when he comes home from college for the long weekend). totally missed Trek, IM3, Pacific Rim, This is the End, WWZ, DM2 and Monsters U. Despite what most people who probably didn't even see Ranger said...I loved it.

I voted Pacific Rim but I could have just as easily voted for The Wolverine. It's a tossup between those two for me.

Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Man of Steel all fell short for me. They just did not live up to expectations.

Star Trek Into Darkness followed by Pacific Rim. Also enjoyed Before Midnight, Monsters U, Despicable Me, and Fast 6. Man of Steel was good but disappointed.

Bring on the thumbs down, but hated Iron Man 3 and not because of the Mandarin Twist.

Top 3 faves of the year thus far are Before Midnight, The Lone Ranger and Only God Forgives, which I believe could all be justified as "summer movies". Pacific Rim and The Heat round out my current top 5. It's gonna be a solid awards season we're heading in to here! *gears up*

Favorites: Man Of Steel, Star Trek Into Darkness, Pacific Rim & The Wolverine.

I don't know if it was the "best" movie of the summer, but Fast & Furious 6 was the most fun I had watching a movie in a theater this summer. One of the better films of that series. Maybe my expectations were too high for some of the other summer films, but while I didn't hate them, I also wasn't blown away by any of them. Iron Man 3 wasn't as good as Iron Man or Avengers, Man of Steel wasn't as good as Superman I or II, Star Trek Into Darkness wasn't as good as Star Trek (09) or Wrath of Khan.

Star Trek Into Darkness, and screw the haters. You can accuse it of being a remake of "Wrath of Khan", but you cannot deny that it was still a well-made film that delivers on the action, acting, and character. Overall, a disappointing summer. None of the movies here made me want to go "OH shit! I gotta go see it again! or "Oh I'm so buying the Blu-Ray for this!" except maybe for Star Trek. Let's hope this is an indication that we get an amazing fall season (i.e. 2006 and 2007).

Pretty disappointing summer...

...but I'd have to say I enjoyed Star Trek Into Darkness the most despite the whole Khan shenanigans. Pacific Rim was a good popcorn movie (not much of a story, but the visuals are fantastic), Man of Steel was rather average (but still enjoyable to an extent), World War Z was surprisingly good, Fast 6 wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be (as an aviation student, the never-ending runway sequence really got to me haha), and Iron Man 3 was ridiculously disappointing.

You can say you didn't like IRON MAN 3, but to say it was a Horrible, is fucking ludicrous. I, like many, did not like it because of the stupid twist. They also could have toned down the comedy a bit. But the average moviegoer could give a shit. If it wasn't for those two reasons I mentioned. I would have loved the film. And then you turn around and say "Pacific Rim all the way for me..........." Even though IRON MAN 3 hurt me as a comic fan, even I have to admit that even with its flaws, it is

A film with the plot synopsis basicly being "Giant Robots fighting Giant Monsters for two hours just because.." Why didn't they build giant guns and just Blast the shit out of them. No, they build Giant Robots to punch the monsters to death. And then you got people who defend RIM and want to shit on TRANSFORMERS. Are you fucking kidding me?! Atleast TRANSFORMERS have a reason for existing. They don't just come from outerspace to punch the shit out of eachother. Oh and my pick for favorite movie of the summer is STAR TREK 2

Why Iron Man 3?

Ok, I dig the Marvel movies, Iron Man more than the others (except the Avengers) however, Pacific Rim was the movie of the summer for me. Full of action, half decent story, and an awesome role, by the always awesome Ron Pearlman.

If I had to rate the 2 movies, I would give Iron Man 3 an 8.75 and Pacific Rim a 9 (out of 10 of course).

Iron Man 3

I really don't understand the hatred on IM3 so if someone who disliked it reads this, tell me as a reply why.
I personaly enjoyed it, and found it so much better than IM2!

Its leading the poll so I don't know how much hate it's getting but number #1 complaint was how they handled the villains, specifically The Mandrain.

Contrary to what most people who disliked it say, it wasn't ruined for me JUST because of the Mandarin twist. It didn't help, but the movie had more problems. I'm not against light-hearted comic book movies, but this took it to an extreme. They tried way too hard to shoehorn some sort of joke into almost every scene. The movie felt like it had absolutely no stakes as a result (big example of this: the Air Force One rescue scene. Thrilling, but once we find out Tony never was actually in the

The movie felt like it had absolutely no stakes as a result (big example of this: the Air Force One rescue scene. Thrilling, but once we find out Tony never was actually in the suit, then what exactly was I rooting for? An unmanned drone saving some anonymous people?). No sense of danger for any of the characters. I also felt like JARVIS malfunctioning and sending Tony into isolation after the mansion attack was a pretty lame and somewhat forced way of getting him on his own. Going back to the Mandarin though, I wouldn't have minded it so much if it didn't feel like a plot twist just for the sake of a plot twist. Having him as the main focus in so many trailers and posters (not to mention him having entire lines in the trailer that they obviously had no intention of using in the actual movie) just felt so manipulating. Keep in mind that in no way am I well-versed in comics at all, so this isn't just some raging fanboy upset at the changes to the Mandarin. I honestly would've rather seen the Mandarin we were promised in the previews. Just my two cents.

A solid good summer, but nothing great

There were no stand out winners this summer. Most of the high profile movies didnt live up to their hype, they were just ok. I dont think i saw any movie this summer i'd give a 9 or 10/10 to. Superman, Iron Man, Pacific Rim, Star Trek, Wolverine, World War Z, Monsters U. All pretty good films, but nothing that stood out as better than expected to me or better than it's series predecessor (i have not see ANY of the Fast/Furious movies). "This is the End" and "The Great Gatsby" both turned out to

Elysium is my vote. Mostly for what it is, a morally conscience, original, Sci-fi film that was a lot of fun. It was on par with "District 9" and only makes me more excited to see what Blomkamp has to offer us next. That is my pic for the summer winner,

Now i'm off to the theater to watch "The Worlds End", which i have i hopes for

And of the Super hero movies of the summer. "Iron Man 3" was not as good as "The Avengers". "Man of Steel" was better than "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Wolverine" was leaps and bounds better than "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"

That being said, i would conclude that the superhero battle ranks like this...
1. Iron Man 3
2. Man of Steel
3. Wolverine

Pretty shitty summer. Of that list, I've seen almost all, and the only ones I enjoyed were The Way Way Back, World War Z, and We're The Millers. IMO, IronMan 3 and Man Of Steel were really bad movies, and as the "anchors" of the summer, they really disappointed, which lead to a disappointing summer overall.
