MOVIE POLL: What Marvel characters now at other studios would you most like to see in Marvel's own movie universe?

2 years agoby:

What Marvel characters now at other studios would you most like to see in Marvel's own movie universe?

X-Men (and all related mutants)
Fantastic Four
Spider-Man
Marvel seems to be doing just fine without them.
I'd rather see other characters Marvel already owns -- Doctor Strange, Inhumans, Black Panther, Blade, Punisher, Daredevil, etc.
Not really much of a Marvel fan.

I'm confused....

Are they not all still Marvel properties? I realize different studios produce different franchises based on Marvel characters, but if the question is "which character/property do you want DISNEY to take over?" the answer is NONE OF THEM PLEASE. Disney can shove it.

The top 3 ..

the top 3 are also my top 3 choices in any order is fine...as i love x-men and the plus side of the xmen is that there are so damn many of them; also i love the ones they already own and are currently not using...still waiting for that Dr.Strange movie and Namor would have been great if they used him in ironman but no such luck and a bad move on Marvels part.....right now they need to use characters at will....we really don't need anymore of this holding back....that's been the formula now

Maybe if ledger was still alive he would have had some doings with the 3rd one and that would have been fine but that's not how it worked out. RIP

X-Men and Spider-Man

Please!!! I wasn't really a fan of first class, wolverine origins and last stand. im 26 and I grew up on x-men in the early 90's. I had the toys, comics, cards, clothes etc. I was never more disappointed until I seen the first x-men movie. it ruined everything I came to love. although the new x-men movie looks like it could be the best of the bunch I will have to wait until I see it to know. fingers crossed.

first things first. They need to give XMEN a new re-imagining. Especially Cyclops, Wolverine and Deadpool.

IF there's any character that deserves his own film, it's the Surfer. He got the intro, now make it happen.

Maybe they should focus on different universes and time-lines. Why not some "What If's........" and Spider-Man Noir . How about a new League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen?

I'd go for Fantastic Four. Fox has had two chances and the third already sound like it's doomed from the start (no pun intended). The FF is a team that would blend in seamlessly with the now firmly established Marvel movie universe, and bring forth a much needed counter-program to the Avengers Initiative (where superpowered strangers being called upon to team up against a major threat) with their family dynamics.

I'm not a fan of Cyclops at all but even I thought he got shafted in the movies. First one worked alright, second he was missing 3/4 of it and 3rd film he lasted 5min. He may be a bland boring character but he's the damn leader of the X-men team, NOT Wolverine.

Cyclos has been treated like crap in the films, which is really disappointing. Like what benny_d said, he's really great and interesting in the comics. A total leader and badass of the X-Men. Hopefully in Days of Future Past we FINALLY get to see him be the true leader badass that he is.

He's always been one of my favorite X-Men characters along with Wolverine and Gambit.

You can also add Gambit from the X-Men to that list. He's one of the best and coolest comic book characters in comics and he has only showed up in one film out of six. Pathetic.

I wish all three studios could just come up with a Cameo clause so that other characters could be used and mentioned without any issues. I mean do you think the F4 or Spidey would not have be involved with the battle of New York? Hell I would have been happy with a shot of the Baxter Building in the Avengers..

Fantastic Four

Not so much because they're necessarily the best characters of the bunch but I think they'd fit really nicely into the cinematic universe Marvel has cobbled together already. For example, I'd love to see Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and Mr. Fantastic in a room together. That one scene alone would be better than all of Iron Man 3

I'm going to go with Spider-Man. I'd like to see a continuing series, not a series rebooted every 5 years. Why even get invested in a series if their going to reboot it every 3 movies? Plus I'd prefer them to not get micromanaged to death by execs the way the last 2 Spider-Man movies were. The 3rd was a mess and the reboot turned out to be pretty forgettable and generic.

I love how the picture above has the X-Men & Spider-man in all new, modern, slicked out artwork; whereas the Fantastic Four has a pic from the Silver Age... almost as if to say, that they're not really worth comparing to the other two, but we had to throw them in there anyways.

Something I think every comic fan would go ape shit for would be Wolvie vs Hulk. Not the avengers and xmen, just a film dedicated to two of the greatest monsters out of Marvel. It has just as big of an impact as a Batman vs Superman film does.

im fine with the set up

I like the direction Sony has been taking Spiderman and Fox with Xmen. Are the movies perfect, no, but neither are Marvel's films. However, since the IronMan/Dark Knight summer of 08, we have seen a serious shift in the approach to superhero movies. studios are taking them more seriously and willing to get more ambitious. However, since the IronMan/Dark Knight summer of 08, we have seen a serious shift in the approach to superhero movies. studios are taking them more seriously and willing to get more ambitious. There have been stumbles but overall i think these franchises are actually improving over time. The studio is willing to slow down their individual movies in favor of a larger franchise arch. The problem with X3, Spiderman 3 and and other marvel films in the mid decade, was that they would try to push so much in one movie and it just got over crowded. The Avengers pushed multiple characters but not much else. A lot of people complained that it lacked a dramatic story, but thats not what it was trying to do. It's purpose was to get these guys on screen together as fluidly as possible, and it accomplished that.

Xmen are doing fine now that they have a multi-film plan (which may or may not include The Fantastic 4) and i actually really enjoyed TASM (more so than SM3). So for Marvel's own universe i wanna see smaller characters start rotating in. Guys that are a lot of fun but may not be able to hold their own movie to todays audience. Punisher and Daredevil are really cool guys, but trying to stretch them over multiple movies may just annoy fan's and general audiences alike. Less is more. Do what you need to accomplish and dont push it.

Fantastic Four

I think Fox and Sony are doing ok with x-men and spider-man. I'd actually argue that I prefer X2, Spider-man, and Spider-man 2 over any of the MCU movies so far (but Iron Man is really close). X-Men, X-Men First Class, the Wolverine, and Amazing Spider-man are on par with a lot of the MCU movies (Thor and Captain America), so I don't see much being gained by Marvel taking these characters back, other than the fanboy delusion that cramming as many characters as possible into an Avengers movie is

However, fantastic 4 could benefit a lot by being handled by Marvel's experience.

Spiderman because done properly he could anchor the Marvelverse in a post-RDJ era. The character would fit perfectly in the overall tone of the Marvelverse that aims for about a 50-50 equilibrium between comedy and drama.

And I very badly want to see a fight between Hulk and Spidey.

All of them is the obvious answer...

... but it's not possible, and even if that pisses us off, we have to remember that there wouldn't even be a Marvel Cinematic Universe if it wasn't for the success of Sony's Spider-man and Fox's X-men !

NOT X-Men

The only thing I like about some of their characters being out of their hands is it keeps the x-men universe away from the Avengers universe. The two are totally incompatible and it boggles my mind that they insist on mashing the two together. If they got X-Men back, you *know* they'd shoehorn them into their universe again, and that's just plain stupid.

I'd like to see what they're doing with their other characters, but only due to franchise fatigue on Spidey, otherwise I'dve gone with him.

Part of me wants them to have them all back...but then if that were the case, let's be honest, we'd have never gotten to Iron Man and Thor if they had the rights to Spidey and X-Men.

Fantastic Four have been most consistently been badly handled by their current studio, and if Marvel got them back it would be a gateway to seeing Galactus done right on the big screen, and Silver Surfer natch. Do Marvel Studios/Disney hold the rights to Namor or is that tied up in one of the other rights deals, because it'd cool to see him brought into their cinematic universe at some point too.

I'd love to see the whole "mutant" mess cleaned up by giving the X-Men back to Marvel. I'd love to see what could be done with the Merry Muties by another studio (not being impressed with X-Men: DOFP so far). Next would be the FF for me, as I've been an FF fan since I was a tike.
