I voted Taken. The poll asked for favorite Liam Neeson role, and this one edges out Schindler's List and Les Miserables (frustratingly not included on the poll) as my favorite for me. His work in the latter two films is overall superior from a dramatic depth and complexity standpoint, but in Taken, Neeson accomplished the rare job of making an action hero both completely bad-ass and emotionally vulnerable. That combination resulted in some of the most volcanic, powerful action scenes I've

About the only thing his role in Taken that didn't ring completely right with me was the name of the character itself, Bryan Mills, which sounds somewhat mundane (compared to a name like, say, Jason Bourne, or even Frank Martin) but it is fitting in its own way when you consider the quiet, low-key manner in which his character is developed in the first half-hour before going into kick-ass action mode.

Taken over Schindler's List???????

Come on people! Taken is not even a "good" film. Sure Neeson is bad ass in it, but I've never seen a film make Europe look so scary and bad and America look like a safe haven for rich teenage white girls before.
For a groundbreaking film about the Holocaust, it was performances like Neeson that made Schindler's List sooooooo damn believable, sad, and timeless. Taken? Really?

It's gotta be a tie between Excalibur and Darkman.
Good Lord, the man has had an impressive career.

A robot could do the same job as him these days

Definitely Excalibur. He could change the tone of his voice then to elicit emotions. Now he just delivers stilted, deadpan phrases. Taken is his best..... seriously, I hope that's only because most voters are too young to have watched some of his older roles. He might as well have been dressed like he was in Batman. Same horrible lifeless acting.

Schindler's List

Schindler's List is easily my favorite film and role of his. Absolutely perfect film and filmmaking in every aspect. I lose it everytime he breaks down in the end of the film.

But after that would be The Grey, The A-Team, and Batman Begins.

Probably Ra's al Ghul, because it was his first time playing a villain and he was brilliant at it.

Gotta go with Schindler's List, but...

A close second for me has to be the first movie I ever saw him in. High Spirits, love that flick.

Tough choices, dude's great in almost everything he's in, I had to go with Taken. A-Team was perfect for him too, a vastly underrated film in my opinion.

Oskar Schindler

It's his most subtle and complex performance with an equally measured character. He's great as a grizzled action hero, a stern father figure, a bombastic God or overlord, a loving father figure, etc. but all those roles, all of them I think stem from the perfect storm that was his role as Oskar Schindler. In that performance you will find the seeds being planted that would eventually sprout every single of his other iconic performances or niches as a character actor-slash-leading man in

Taken

Am I the only one that really wasn't impressed by this movie? Its really not that different from other kidnapping movies like Man on Fire, just with an older tough guy in the lead than normal. And his often quoted line "I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want....", isn't really that great. In fact, I'll take about 5 lines from Mel Gibson in Ransom over that on the basis of delivery and cleverness. I'm also open minded, so if someone wants to explain to me what makes this movie

Liam Neeson's performance is what made Taken. It's typical Luc Besson Eurotrash, but Neeson brought more class to the film than people were anticipating. And while Darkman and Rob Roy had showcased his action chops already, this was really a star-turn. The famous phone conversation is the movie in a nutshell. I do think it benefitted from having sex-trade bad guys, because there are few more despicable criminal enterprises around. And it was the beginning of what fans now refer to as "Neeson

As for Ransom, that was 18 years ago. And Gibson wasn't nearly as likable or badass in that movie.

His best role is still probably Oskar Schindler, but my favorite is Rob Roy. Neeson's post-Taken success reminds me a little bit of Johnny Depp right after POTC, where a recognizable and respected actor suddenly found himself a huge box-office draw. But as long as he finds time to make movies like The Grey, I'm not complaining. Would like to see him and Neil Jordan reteam on something (or maybe do something with one of the McDonagh brothers).

Good Cop and Bad Cop

Not my ultimate favorite, but my new favorite. Hearing Liam Neeson doing the good cop voice still cracks me up to this day. Oh, and don't forget to watch the Liam Neeson interview tonight on ABC.

Schindler

I've liked him in most his roles. I always thought he filled the void left by the absences of Mel Gibson in recent years, both being equally great in believable in drama and action films (and occasionally comedy). Also, I've always like Qui-Gon Jinn. Him and Darth Maul are the best parts of Episode I. I mean, come on, the guy trained both Obi-Wan and Batman, how can you not like him?

Too Many Choices

I'll go with Taken, but Schindler's List is right there. I also love his small roles in Kingdom of Heaven and Gangs of New York. They were small parts in two very long and character filled movies, but he made sure you remembered his part.

Also, The A-Team is one of the most underrated movies I've seen in the last decade and, along with Dredd, is probably the movie I most want to see a sequel to.

Funny thing is The A-Team was panned by most when it was first released. Now like you said its basically a cult classic to tons of fans. I'm one of those fans. Haven't watched it in awhile, will have to toss it into the Blu Ray player soon.
