Doom finds new leader

09.10.2004

The Universal adaptation of the popular first-person video game DOOM has found a new director. Andrzej Bartkowiak (CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE) will continue to test my spelling abilities as he signs on to replace Enda McCallion as the director of DOOM. McCallion, who has to make his feature debut on the project, dropped out due to personal reasons. The Rock has been rumored to be starring in the film but now that Batkowiak has signed on, perhaps he'll be replaced by angry rapper DMX? Batkowiak gained fame as a cinematographer for such films as TERMS OF ENDEARMENT and PRIZZI'S HONOR before going on to direct the DMX trilogy of ROMEO MUST DIE, CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE and EXIT WOUNDS. The film is still moving along in pre-production with filming set to begin later this October. The latest DOOM videogame, "Doom 3" is available now for the PC and is scheduled to hit the Xbox on October 26th....just in time for Halloween.
