It'll make AT LEAST $90 million, but I'm going to guess $100-125 million bracket.

Everybody's talking about how the last two movies have had smaller openings, etc. etc. what they're not factoring in is that 1) neither of the last two films had the original cast. X-Men: First Class pulled the rug out from under audiences by replacing familiar faces with Mr. Tumnus and a bunch of then unknowns. The Wolverine had Hugh Jackman going for it,but it didn't have the rest of the cast, had a ton of bad will from the previous solo outing and the Japanese crimeworld setting clashed with

In terms of marketing and piquing the public interest this one literally has everything going for it. 2) Every film featuring the main cast has made more money and had a bigger opening weekend than the last. The Last Stand made $102 Million it's opening weekend, which when adjusted for inflation, equals out to just under $125 Million. I'm not sure that Days of Future Past will top that but I would be surprised if it didn't open over $100 and I'd be extremely surprised if it opened under $90. I mean even Thor is bring in over $75 million on opening weekend these days, and that's almost exclusively riding on the coattails of The Avengers success. This has a familiar franchise, with well known actors returning to their trademark roles in a summer tentpole that is getting very good reviews. There is no way in heck that it is making less than $90.

You just said everything I was thinking. Thank God, because I didn't want to type all of that. You're a smart guy. You think like I do, logically.

Agreed. Also, the wolverine was MORE OF A quiet, small, character piece compared to the rest of the XFilms and a lot of super hero films period.

I think you're wrong, but I'll be interested to see the results. I know the film is 3 days away and everyone's still talking about Godzilla (which made less than $100 million). I just don't hear the buzz necessary for the biggest opening of the year.

Deserves to be the highest-earning X-Men film of them all. I was really skeptical going in but now, I'm thoroughly impressed.

$50-$75 million.....

The average for X-Men movies is $72 million, and the last two were in the $50 million range. I'm sure this will make more money over time, but I don't get any enthusiasm from friends about seeing it. I suspect if it's as good as the early reviews say, it'll have staying power and get there over time, but not on opening weekend.

It's tracking to be huge but I still played it safe and picked 75-100. All the X-Men movies have made less than the previous one, post-The Last Stand, so franchise fatigue has apparently set in, but the way they're tying the timelines together and combining the casts will probably pull in big numbers.

early reviews have said its as good, if not better than X2 and First Class, which is amazing news. How much money it will make will factor in what they'll spend on the sequel. I'm just happy a worthy sequel was made even with the departure of Matthew Vaughn.

Will hit 100 mill easy. It's getting great reviews so far so it should have staying power. Probably be the highlight of the summer in terms of dollars.

I can't say a specific number, but

... I'm sure it can't be less than GODZILLA's numbers.

Just curious.....why? It's getting good reviews, but at this point Godzilla was at 90% as well. Once the mainstream critics get around to fantasy movies, they usually push it down considerably. Other X-Men movies haven't made that much, so why are you sure it will be more than $93 million?

Younger people are much more familiarized with the X-MEN franchise.

This movie is all hype and that doesn`t translate to big box office.I`m sure its opening weekend will do well but not exceptional.Wolverine hardly made its budget back in the states and first class didn`t do as well as it should of in the states. But those two movies were saved by there oversea box office. This`ll do well overseas ,it`ll top $500 million which will save it from been deemed a flop.Big but not note worthy opening weekend then i bet it`ll make around 240-260 at the domestic box

You come off like such a dick with tacking on, at least in the states.

The Wolverine, which was the cheapest X-Men movie made so far was Fox's #1 movie of the whole year last year. This is (DOFP) the most expensive movie Fox has ever made and the return of 1 of only 2.5 directors to make a X-film that was well received.

People aren't fatigued of these characters, the business of movie theaters is just changing, that doesn't mean America hates the X-Men.

I`m a dick lol.You do know it`s just a movie right?Wolverine wasn`t fox`s number 1 movie of last year, its was The Groods.Oh live action release, well then you got me there,Wolverine was Fox`s number 1 movie of last year. Thanks to it`s overseas grosses (282 mill) not US grosses (132mill on a production budget of 120 mill not including P&A) Uou`d think a sequal would have a higher budget since the first one had done so well but Fox gave it a cheaper budget instead and it still just made it over

Edit
I hope this movie does kick ass.I think Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is some of the best casting in movie history.Plus If they`re planing on doing another movie after this already then Fox has faith in it.Double plus plus,i hope it does well for Singer as he needs some good news! And i`m spent.

It is unfortunate that you can recite all these numbers and facts but fail to spell check your own comments. Your points would be better received if you proof read your comments first.

Don't know how much it WILL make...

But I hope it makes as little as possible. In a perfect world, this movie would bomb so badly Fox would give up on it and sell the X-Men rights to Disney. But there are too many idiots supporting this garbage...so a Marvel made X-Men movie will just have to be a dream...for now.

If MARVEL/Disney had X-Men rights there would have been no Avengers movie.

Now we have one of the biggest studios treating a comic book property as the highest most valuable asset they own... And your concerned why?

You're an idiot. Fox has always owned the X-Men film rights, and they will always own the rights. Disney will never ever own the X-Men film rights, so get the fuck over it.

I wonder how much this needs to make for Fox to gloss over the fact that Singer is a pedophile/pervert and keep him on for Apocalypse.

He's been accused, not proven guilty. Anyone can accuse anyone, but an accusation is not a proof or a finding of guilt. I could accuse you of being a terrorist. Does that make you one? With your flawed logic, I guess it does!

Over $100 Million

If Godzilla managed to pull in 93, then I think X-Men can top 100. That is my logic.

Over $100 Million

I'm going to say it makes just over $100 million. I'm getting a real Spider Man 2/Dark Knight/Avengers vibe from this film and all of the great things I have been hearing and seeing should push it over to being the biggest opening weekend of this year.

I couldn't be any more excited to see the X-Men back on the big screen again with both casts in the same film and with Singer FINALLy fixing the timeline properly.
