Dirty Harry: The Game?

02.24.2005

Go ahead. Make my game. OK, yes that was cheesy but no, I couldn't resist. Yes, Clint Eastwood has signed on to contribute his likeness and provide his voice to the upcoming DIRTY HARRY videogame. But all you Xbox and Playstation 2 fans will have to wait - and get our your wallets. The game is being developed for the next generation of consoles (PS3 and Xbox 2) so likely won't be ready for release until 2007 at the earliest. While it's interesting that the selective Eastwood would agree to participate in a video game, it's even more interesting that it's through Warner Bros., who the director has had a rather contentous few years. Eastwood was reportedly ticked off when the WB refused to cough up the $30 million budget for MILLION DOLLAR BABY forcing Lakeshore Entertainment to come aboard as co-producers. Allegedly, Eastwood felt he had enough clout after MYSTIC RIVER to get this project made but the WB didn't think it had enough commercial appeal. Eastwood's next directorial project FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS will be for DreamWorks, not WB who has produced 14 of his last 15 films (with ABSOLUTE POWER being the lone exception). But it seems all that is water under the bridge and Warner Bros. will work with Eastwood to develop a storyline for the game. "Dirty Harry" will be the second game WB Interactive is financing on its own with "The Matrix Online" being the first.
