Downey says Goodnight

03.08.2005

Robert Downey Jr. news article pic Robert Downey Jr. is awesome. He doesn't let a silly little thing like jail time and a drug addiction get in the way of making at least two movies a year. And it's a testament to his talent that despite all that, he still gets regular work in relatively high profile movies. Imagine if he didn't hit the smack and land himself in the big house? Now that "the good times" are behind him, though, he's looking to partner up with George Clooney in GOODNIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK. The film, which Clooney will direct and co-star in, tells the story of CBS news anchor Edward R. Murrow's fight with the House Unamerican Activities Committee and his on-air battles with Senator Joseph McCarthy. The script was co-written by Clooney and Grant Heslov and also stars Patricia Clarkson and David Strathairn. Filming is set to begin this week for seven weeks. For more on that go HERE or HERE. Downey can next be seen alongside Keanu Reeves in the Phillip K. Dick adaptation A SCANNER DARKLY, with Val Kilmer in the thriller KISS, KISS, BANG, BANG, has recently signed on to the Disney comedy THE SHAGGY DOG and is in negotiations to star alongside Nicole Kidman in the Diane Arbus indie biopic FUR.
