Bat vs Supes tidbits

07.23.2002

We all know by now that BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN is a definite go for a 2004 but what happens after that to all the Warners superhero films in development? There's the McG/JJ Abrams SUPERMAN movie and the Darren Aronofsky BATMAN: YEAR ONE movie both in moderately active development. Plus there's CATWOMAN, WONDER WOMAN and still murmurs of the once left for dead BATMAN BEYOND. So who will be the next out of the gate after 2004? It seems BATMAN: YEAR ONE has the inside track considering Warners has now put the kibosh on Aronofsky's THE FOUNTAIN unless the budget can be trimmed to under $70 million. Aronofsky would certainly have a time advantage considering McG is busy prepping CHARLIE'S ANGELS 2. CATWOMAN will likely happen but it doesn't seem too high on Ashley Judd's to-do list. Don't bet any money on either BATMAN BEYOND or WONDER WOMAN. Sandra Bullock recently said she's officially taken herself out of consideration for the starring role leaving the project in jeopardy. BEYOND just seems to be too much of BATMAN overload and doesn't even have a script yet. All this should hinge on Aronofsky's luck with THE FOUNTAIN and his ongoing tumultuous relationship with Warners.
