Ferrell gets Lost

04.25.2005

Will Ferrell won't be finding himself among the stranded islanders on ABC's "Lost" but will instead be starring in a feature adaptation of the classic kids TV show LAND OF THE LOST. Coincidentally, Ferrell's character in JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK was Marshall Willenholly, named by writer/director Kevin Smith, after the original characters from LOST, Marshall, Will and Holly. This time around, however, Will and Holly will be gone and the film will instead focus just on Ferrell's character. The remake will be directed by Adam McKay (ANCHORMAN) from a script by Chris Henchy and Dennis McNicholas, two former "Saturday Night Live" writers. The show's creators, Sid and Marty Krofft will serve as executive producers on the film. When LOST will go before cameras is a mystery as Ferrell has a boatload of projects on his schedule. He's currently filming THE PRODUCERS and will then segue to STRANGER THAN FICTION for director Marc Forster and the animated film CURIOUS GEORGE. He's then attached to TALLADEGA NIGHTS, also with director McKay, and the David Mamet film JOAN OF BARK. Ferrell has two movies opening this summer, BEWITCHED and KICKING AND SCREAMING.
