Spidey & Surfer news

Silver Surfer news article pic Sci Fi Wire landed some pretty good scoopage today. They recently spoke to Marvel overlord Avi Arad who mentioned that SILVER SURFER is next in line to come to the big screen. According to him, "we are finishing [Fantastic Four], and the next thing we'll go on our way to Silver Surfer." However, the biggest problem they're trying to resolve right now is how much digital effects they'll use to bring Surfer to life. Well, let's hope they solve that problem as quickly as possible because SILVER SURFER will look absolutely great onscreen. Read more of what he had to say over HERE.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better than news about a SILVER SURFER movie in active development, Wire also spoke to Sam Raimi about the future of SPIDER-MAN. Raimi mentioned that Sony's planning a whopping…drumroll please…SIX Spidey films. And not only that but Raimi would be willing to direct all six. According to the Spidey master, "so I think she's [Amy Pascal, Sony chair] a woman of her word. And if she says there'll be six, there'll be six…if they were to ask me, and if I felt as passionate as I feel now about the character and had this great hunger and desire to tell the story, which I really do now, you couldn't keep me away from it." Whoa, just saying it again almost made me piddle. Read more about it over HERE.

Finally, to sum up the comic scoopage, Wire spoke to Ron Perlman about HELLBOY 2 and mentioned that production will probably start January 2006. He also mentioned that the sequel will probably focus more on the "folklore of the character" and have less of the "pyrotechnics". So does that mean there won't be a grand display of roman candles, air bombs and fountains in a beautiful parade? Bummer. Check out more of what he had to say over HERE.
