Crowe and Kidman?

05.05.2005

The last time Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman were scheduled to work together, things didn't go too well. The plug was pulled on Jocelyn Moorehouse's EUCALYPTUS just days before shooting and the project was abandoned. But now the two actors have lined up again hoping to once again collaborate on a film. The two are in talks to star in an upcoming, as-yet untitled epic from Baz Luhrmann. The film, being written by Stuart Beattie (COLLATERAL) has been described as an Australian version of GONE WITH THE WIND. So far, all four involved in the film - Crowe, Kidman, Luhrmann and Beattie - are all from down under. Offers have yet to be made and deals have yet to be signed but Luhrmann has aggressively been pursuing the duo and both are expected to sign on soon. Kidman always sparked to the idea of reteaming with her MOULIN ROUGE director (once set to star in his failed ALEXANDER epic) and Crowe has been looking for a big film to fill the hole in his schedule this fall. Once EUCALYPTUS fell apart Kidman signed on to star in the biopic of photographer Diane Arbus, FUR, this summer with Robert Downey, Jr. Crowe has CINDERELLA MAN set for release this summer.
