Grace joins Spider-Man!

05.19.2005

Columbia Pictures has announced today that Topher Grace has signed on to co-star in SPIDER-MAN 3 joining Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco and Thomas Haden Church. Church was announced as the film's villain earlier this spring but the identity of who he would be playing in the film was not revealed. The same can be said of Grace's role, which is also being kept secret. Raimi would say only, "Topher Grace is an extraordinarily talented actor and will be perfect for the complexities of the role we are developing." SPIDER-MAN 3, written by Alvin Sargent who scripted the second film, is scheduled to go into production at the beginning of 2006 with a May 2007 release planned. Grace just recently left "That 70s Show" where he had been starring for seven years alongside Ashton Kutcher. While we don't know exactly what role Grace will play but it's likely it will be that of a villain (though even that wasn't divulged by the studio). It has been widely reported that two villains will feature into the third film and speculation has ranged from Venom, Sandman, Vulture, Electro, Man-Wolf and pretty much every baddie in SPIDER-MAN lore. Raimi has said in the past that they plan to make a big announcement to the fans once all the deals have been finalized so cross your fingers and hope that the San Diego ComiCon this year will reveal everything you want to know about SPIDER-MAN 3...
