New Jack City (SE) - August 23

This is one of the first movies that made me buy a gold chain and want to be a New Jack Hustler. Yeah, that lasted about three days when I found out that you had to, oh I don't know, sell drugs and possibly shoot people. And not only is this one of the cooler "urban" movies, but it also has Judd Nelson pretty much being a bad ass, Wesley Snipes before he got all paranoid primadonna-ish and Ice T saying the immortal line, "I want to shoot you so bad, my dick's hard." Balls, baby.

Disc One:

  • Commentary by Director/Co-Star Mario Van Peebles
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
  • English DD5.1 Surround
  • English, French and Spanish subtitles

Disc Two:

  • Three All-New Documentaries:
    • NJC: A Hip-Hop Classic – Artists, radio personalities and other hip-hop icons show their respect for the movie that brought the streets to the big screen
    • The Road to New Jack City – Wesley Snipes, Ice-T and Allen Payne give the low-down on how New Jack City was made
    • Harlem World: A Walk Inside – Mario Van Peebles checks out the sights and sounds of the Black Capital of America
  • Music Videos:
    • New Jack Hustler (Nino’s Theme) by Ice-T
    • I’m Dreamin’ by Christopher Williams
    • I Wanna Sex You Up by Color me Badd

Now tell me, who's got the part in this movie you're producing called "Blade"? Who now? Who?!

Guess Who - August 5

How many times are we going to see a movie about the cultural differences and the conflict that arises, albeit a comedic conflict, when you put white folks and black folks together? Jesus, I thought we were years past this, but apparently it makes money so I guess that means it's okay. It's not.

  • Director Kevin Rodney Sullivan's Commentary
  • 7 Deleted Scenes with Optional Director Commentary
  • Gag Reel
  • Love is the Melody: The Making of GUESS WHO Featurette
  • Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
  • English and French DD5.1 Surround
  • English, French and Spanish subtitles

Rumble Fish (SE)/The Blues Brothers (SE)

Couple of bad ass special editions (worthy special editions at that) are to be released later on this year. On September 13th you can catch Matt Dillon and his eyebrows in the very cool follow up to The Outsiders, Rumble Fish. A new 1.85 anamorphic transfer and a remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 track, extras include an audio commentary with director Francis Ford Coppola (whom you may have heard of), some deleted scenes, featurettes and more.

"The Blues Brothers?! Sheeit, they still owe you money, fool." The band gets back together on August 30th with a much awaited 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition. It will feature both the expanded cut, as well as the original theatrical cut in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 tracks. Extras are TBA, baby.

A young Matt Dillon after his first failed attempt at shaving.

They are, in fact, on a mission from God.

Not Another Teen Movie (Unrated) - July 26

How about "Not another unrated comedy special, spectacular edition that was too-hot-to-handle in the theatre." I mean, come on already with this. The director's cut includes 11-minutes of never-before-seen footage edited back into the movie and includes the exact-same extras as the previous release which are cast commentaries, teen movie factoids, deleted scenes and more. If it's so unrated how come we don't see Jamie Pressley with her shirt and knickers off?

NewsRadio (S1 & 2): It's watching things like this that make you really miss Phil Hartman. 5/24

Richard Pryor: Stand Up: And so many years later, Richard Pryor is still one of the top 3 funniest motherf*ckers to ever walk the Earth. 5/24

Over the Top: As The Arrow has already been showing the country of France, the trucker hat "is like a switch." 5/31
