The Interpreter - October 4

As a reminder, never trust anyone that uses the phrase, "we need to hightail it out of here." Moreso, if that person isn't wearing pants. What does this have to do with Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman starring in Sydney Pollack's The Interpreter? You're very perceptive, old chum, absolutely nothing. And contrary to popular belief, Nicole Kidman isn't single....anymore.....if you catch my drift. If you don't, no worries, I don't either.

  • Audio commentary with director Sydney Pollack
  • Alternate Ending
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Sydney Pollack at Work: From Concept to Cutting Room
  • Interpreting Pan & Scan vs. Widescreen
  • The Ultimate Movie Set: The United Nations
  • A Day in the Life of Real Interpreters
  • Seperate Anamorphic Widescreen and Full Screen editions
  • English, French and Spanish DD5.1 Surround

Even in the presence of beauty such as Nicole Kidman, Sean Penn is completely bummed out.

The Longest Yard - September 20

I'm not one of those cats who are all like, "Hey, don't be remaking this movie or that movie, cuz it's a CLASSIC." I'm one of the cats who's mostly like, "Wow, that's great. Beer?" But if there's one thing that this new remake can't duplicate is the bomb-ass car chase in the beginning. Of course they did TRY to duplicate it, but there's no way it'll ever be as believable as it was when Burt "My-moustache-is-insured-for-a-million-dollars" Reynolds led the chase. For the most part, you can imagine that Reynolds was actually drinking alcohol in the chase. Anwhoo, there's an audio commentary with director Peter Segal on the DVD release including some deleted, extended and alternate scenes, a behind-the-scenes featurette, music video and trailers. It has an 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Yee-Haw!

The guys over at E! really know how to party.

The Deer Hunter (SE) - September 6

The Deer Hunter has to be one of those rare instances where releasing a classic movie from the 70's as a special edition on DVD, totally bums out a whole new generation of viewers. We were shown this back in third grade and let me tell you, I've never seen so many 7 year olds acting like whiny little bitches. So, the guys are trapped in water, noses barely above the surface in a cage.....with rats. Big deal! So, the guys are made to play Russian Roulette for the gambling enjoyment of the Viet Cong. So what! Cry me a friggin' river, buddy! It's not like Bobby DeNiro didn't get them the hell out of there, so stop crying yer eyes out, kids.

  • Audio Commentary with Cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond and Film Journalist Bob Fisher
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes
  • Original Theatrical Trailer
  • Production Notes
  • 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
  • English DD2.0 Stereo
  • Spanish DD2.0 Mono
  • English, French and Spanish subtitles

"You Viet Cong get me in a vendetta kind of a mood...."
