In Theaters Friday

Welcome back for another edition of In Theaters Friday, where you can find out now what trailers you'll be seeing on Friday. This past weekend saw a lighter release of trailers, with no sign of an X3 teaser and a bunch of trailers you'd already seen. Perhaps the highly anticipated release of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY will bring some much needed footage to chatter about. Make sure to stop back in from time to time because this is an ever evolving column. As I get more information, I'll be adding an update at the bottom or using strikethrough text.

The adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved novel CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY looks to hit both young and old audiences with a mix of fantasy and nostalgia. Did I mention Johnny Depp yet? The modern king of suave and former Jump Streeter has been on a roll for the past couple of years and his re-teaming with Tim Burton must have Warner Brothers delighted. I'd bet the farm that you'll see the latest trailer for CORPSE BRIDE this week. A strong contender to make prints is HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE, which has yet to see a follow-up to its initial teaser. Being that this is Harry Potter weekend some cross promotion with the new book release would make sense.

Another adaptation in-queue to premiere this weekend is the new CHRONICLES OF NARNIA trailer. No word as to which film it will attach to, but common sense would point to CHARLIE. No matter what, ComiCon fans will get to see something new in San Diego, check back for an update on that.

Also, new to theaters this week is WEDDING CRASHERS. Distributor New Line has no more comedies on slate for the rest of the year so they'll be slotting in an upcoming drama like DOMINO or THE NEW WORLD, or farm out a slot to another studio (DEUCE BIGALOW perhaps?).

Other trailers new to theaters this week include: PROOF starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Jake Gyllenhaal. The first glimpse of this trailer was shown on Entertainment Tonight and you can check out a screen cap just above this sentence.

UPDATE: DEUCE BIGALOW 2 is confirmed!

Disclaimer: Not every theater plays exactly the same trailers in front of each movie. Your best bet is to call ahead and ask a manager for as much information as possible. We try our hardest to get you the best information, but nothing is guaranteed.

Check back this very column as we update with any late breaking trailer news and links as to when these clips will show up online. Don't hesitate to e-mail me any trailers that you can confirm or deny seeing: [email protected].
