Superman rumors

Now that the BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN project is all but shelved, Warners is moving on to other things. Top on their "to-do list" is the new SUPERMAN movie. As reported a few weeks back by Coming Attractions, Warner Bros. is looking to get a high-profile director to replace McG behind the camera. But while that search is on, buzz about the script by JJ Abrams ("Alias") continues to grow. I've heard nothing but amazing things about it and we get another report from a Superman fansite that gives us some insight as to what to expect. Here's what Mr. Abrams agent said when contacted:

"The script is far less than 200 pages - about 130. It is going before Batman v. Superman and Wolfgang Petersen is doing another movie (Troy) first. That's all I can tell you other than its one of the best screenplays I've ever read and is epic, action packed and extremely humanistic. Fans will not be dissapointed."

Granted it's the man's agent and he's not going to come out and say his latest screenplay is a piece of shit, but it seems to jive with a lot of other positive things being said about it. In that same report on their site, it was also reported the film will be "tongue-in-cheek" and will be fashioned as a "great family film." That would seem to conflict with their last report that the film's main villains are Lex Luthor and Lobo as his sidekick. That last item is likely to be a rumor as the Lobo character already has his own film in development and may not be suitable for a family film. Confirmation on all these details should be forthcoming as we expect a script review to pop up online any day now...
