The Warriors (SE) - October 4

The release of the special edition of The Warriors coincides nicely with the release of the video game that will be out the third week of October. A commentary with Walter Hill would've been nice; dude makes total "guy's guy" movies and if you don't believe me, check out a bad ass little film called Extreme Prejudice with Nick Nolte, Powers Boothe and Lamar from Revenge of the Nerds (no, really). The Warriors, upon my first viewing of it, painted an apocalyptic portrait of gangs terrorizing citizens and taking over New York City, which in my young fertile mind made me always fearful of taking a trip to the Big Apple. Luckily, the Olsen Twins in New York Minute or whatever the hell it was called, changed my mind about the city when they were prancing around in little skirts and chasing boys. Yeah, I'm shallow like that. Hoo Haa!

  • Introduction by Walter Hill
  • Featurettes: The Warriors: The Beginning, The Warriors: Battleground, The Warriors: The Way Home, The Warriors: The Phenomenon

The Coen Brothers' Collection - October 18

The thing with Director's Collections is that it always seems to be the most unlikely films that are put together (unlike the Scorsese Collection which was pimp). This here collection has The Big Lebowski, Blood Simple, Intolerable Cruelty, The Man Who Wasn't There. While I agree with The Big Lebowski and Blood Simple, where's Miller's Crossing? Where's Fargo? Where's O' Brother? See? Everyone has their own ideas of what the definitive collection should be. So far, aside from The Big Lebowski which is the Collector's Edition (specs HERE) there will be no extras for the DVDs, although the Region 2 Coen Bros' Collection listed some deleted scenes for Blood Simple. So keep an eye out for that or not.

Dark Water/Havoc - November/December

I decided to list these two films together because both female leads have fantastic breasts, and I DO mean fantastic. Hey, I told you at the beginning of this column that I was shallow, so no angry e-mails, okay? Other than the two female stars having ample racks in common, both of the films will have Rated and Un-Rated editions and we know for sure that Havoc (out November 29) will have Anne Hathaway exposing at least one fun bag and faking an orgasm. Aww, they grow up so fast! *sniff sniff* Specs have not been released for Dark Water (out December 26), but Havoc will include theatrical trailers and not much else. But until then, check this write up Colonel Sampson did a while back that contains a link that shows Hathaway in a see through top at the School of Rock premiere. Nothing like flashing little kids at a premiere.

Connelly could've been mistaking, but she was pretty sure that there was a leak somewhere

Beavis & Butthead: The Mike Judge Col. (V.1) - November 8

What's good, you can say, about the release of upcoming movies, is that some kind of "special collection" or a special edition of a movie by the director usually will be released around the same time as the movie hitting theaters. The Office Space special edition was announced on the site a few weeks back and here we have another Judge project being released, although the release date for his new movie IDIOCRACY has been kept under wraps. Or not. I couldn't find anything but if you know, send us a shout. Since this comes out in November, as does Office Space, I'm guessing somewhere around there. Or not. Anyway, click on one of Butthead's grapes to check out the artwork. Or not.

  • Forty Shorts
  • Eleven original music videos with Beavis And Butt-Head commentary
  • Director's cut episodes
  • A Taint Of Greatness: The Journey Of Beavis And Butt-Head - Featurette
  • Selected Beavis and Butthead Appearances and Interviews

Menu Shots

The Big Lebowski (SE)

Land of the Dead (Unrated)

Deer Hunter (SE): Outstanding movie brought on by an outstanding cast. You may want to kill yourself after watching it though. 9/6

21 Jump Street (S3): The release of the 21 Jump Street DVDs are moving full steam ahead, and JoBlo is the conductor of that train. Yeeeow! 9/6

Toy Story (SE): Unnecessary, so make sure the rug rats don't catch wind of it or they'll bug you to death. 9/6

Fraggle Rock (S1): Likewise, make sure the rug rats don't catch wind of this. Nobody, puppets or not, is this f*cking happy. 9/6
