Ghost Rider pics!

09.07.2005

I've been kinda avoiding saying this to myself, and certainly here on the site, but it's time I come clean - I'm worried about GHOST RIDER. What exactly it is that worries me most I don't think I can put my finger on. I think part of it is Nic Cage. Another part is that it's GHOST RIDER, which is inherently a difficult character to adapt to screen. Finally I think that, minus a few exceptions, we're starting to see the quality of our comic-related films dwindle. They're falling victim to their own success and, like the post-SCREAM teen-horror fad of the late-90s, they're becoming just kinda blah. Can GHOST RIDER overcome that? God, I hope so but if they couldn't make a kick-ass movie out of FANTASTIC FOUR, what can I hope for GHOST RIDER? One thing that makes me feel a little better is that few directors and stars know GHOST RIDER better than Mark Steven Johnson and Nic Cage. They'd be pissed about a shitty movie just as much as we would. I dunno... what are you guys thinking? Strike Back below and let me know. In the meanwhile, take a gander at these stills, which I haven't seen anywhere else on the web, from the film provided by a scooper who preferred to only be known as "GhostFace." GHOST RIDER hits theaters next summer.

Daredevil (and Ghost Rider)

Fuck!!! I kinda liked the theatrical cut of Daredevil. Sure...it didn't rock my socks off but I was entertained. I've yet to see the Director's Cut but I plan to rectify that particular failing sometime soon. As for Ghost Rider. I have high hopes. Nic Cage has been itching to do the superhero thing for sometime now and altough he's not the actor I would personally choose to play Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider...he's also not a bad choice. He also has the comic book geek factor to his credit.

Visually Ghost Rider is a strong concept that should with the right script, actor and director translate into an excellent movie. Only time will tell.

Ghost Rider

I agree. I'm worried about Ghost Rider. It looks like its going to be on par with Daredevil and the Punisher. Unless the movie has a Grade A director and a Grade A cast (ie; Batman Begins, X-Men, X2, and I bet Superman Returns will kick ass), I think the movie is going to be a flop.

Super Hero Movies

Would it be out of line to suggest a Super hero movie with an 'R' rating...

Most of these hero debuted in the 60's and 70's which would make the core audience (ahem) over 17...

For example if ever a super hero movie could've been an adult story was The Punisher instead in was sanitized and effed up just to make a 'PG 13'...

Perhaps Ghost Rider should've tested the waters with a more adult oriented story...

Just a thought.

Whistler?

From the shot above, it looks like they ganked Whistler from the Blade series. I think this movie will be weak. First off they could have picked a hero that the masses have actually heard about. I would love to know how 'Ghostrider' got to the top of that heap...

Who knows...

Daredevil was a forgettable superhero movie, but definetely not as bad as everyone says it was. However, with this movie, it has a much better cast and a bigger budget. But I think they are doing it PG-13 ( someone correct me if I am wrong ) and if they are, that would be dubbing it down to appeal to a wider audience which is retarded. They should go for the R rating. I never saw the trailer, so it is still too early to tell how this will turn out. Here's to hoping.

LordSimen is right about directors cut

But I think Ghost Rider is gonna suck big time. The trailer made me laugh so hard I nearly soiled myself. I can't believe that I'm seeing so many movies straight to DVD, that are better than Hollywood blockbusters. Okay Man-thing is an exception to that rule. I think both M-T and GR are going to make Australia look like the worst place to film. Although I'm not a fan, here's hoping Superman will change that view.

Just a tip

I recommend everyone who hates Daredevil to rent the Director's Cut of the film, so you can see the unfinished version of what Mark Steven Johnson REALLY wanted to do (unfortunatly Fox's budget restrictions and their want for a quick, 90 minute action film as opposed to a solid 2 hour movie ruined the film.) The director's cut has the extra 30 minutes that weren't in the theatrical cut and string together a much more solid plotline than what was in the film. We get to see Murdock as a lawyer

We get to see Murdock as a lawyer as well as a hero, and some scenes are rearranged and some were gone completely. The Director's Cut was the film he wanted, but he wasn't alloud to do it.

So knowing about that, I have high hopes. This time he's working with Sony, who has given him the time, the money and the freedom Fox didn't give him on Daredevil. I have a feeling that this film will definatly be much better than the trash the theatrical cut of Daredevil was. Ten billion times better.

BOTOX!!!
It's a wonder his forehead isn't leaking from all those injections. And, exactly how much eyeliner was used on the set? Im just joking, but this looks ok...I guess, not a huge Cage fan, but who knows...

I think it should be good. Batman Begins exceeded my expectations, partially because I love Chris Nolan, and partially because Christian Bale is awesome. I hope and pray Ghost Rider is good, because he is one of my favorite superheros, ever. I'm kind of worried, kind of not. I'm torn.

Daredevil was a big pile of garbage. Nicolas Cage has triumpth onscreen on numerous ocassions, but it always seemed to be the director that brought out the best in him. Just cause you're huge fan doesn't mean you can make a great movie, one thing has little to do with the other... And Batman Begins has set the bar pretty high as far as comic book movies go. I think this is one of those movies that everyone will be surprised if it doesn't completely suck ala Revenge of the Sith. Heres hoping.

Daredevil was one my most hated films of the past...ever. and although the comic con interviews with Mark Steven Johnson showed how much he cared about Ghost Rider and the characters, i still cant get over how bad Daredevil was. do we really trust this guy with another iconic comic charater?
