The Latest Announcements

Fantastic Four - December 6

The release date for FF (that's what the cool people are calling it these days) was announced a while ago but the specs hadn't become available until this week. It turns out that I was really bummed when I saw it in the theatre. Since I don't read comic books, I had to base it on just another movie and not if it was a fair adaptation or whatever. But a skin tight outfit on Jessica Alba kept my attention long enough to finish my nachos and popcorn off and through the rest of the movie. Remember the guy who was the boss of all those crooks with different colored names who wore skinny black ties in that one movie? Motherf*cker looks just like The Thing.

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory - November 8

As you'll see further down in this column, November 8th has this as well as special editions for Big Fishand Edward Scissorhands hitting the shelves in what's called an all new "Tim Burtonian Day". Nobody calls it that actually. Something about Burton's "reimagining" left me a little flat. Maybe it was the lack of green haired Oompa Loompas, maybe it was that even though I really hated the original Charlie Bucket, I missed the blonde haired, whiny little bastard. I'm not a purist by any means, but the new one seemed to lack a lot of heart. Anyway, there will be a regular, p*ssy-fied edition of this and a extra special, super duper deluxe edition. Specs for the extra special, super duper deluxe edition is below.

  • The Fantastic Mr. Dahl: Learn about Dahl's life story and extraordinary body of work
  • Attack of the Squirrels: See how they trained live squirrels to perform in the film
  • 5 Making-Of Featurettes
  • Becoming Oompa-Loompa: See how one actor, Deep Roy, was turned into a multi-talented army of Oompa's
  • Theatrical Trailer

Edward Scissorhands(SE) - November 8

If you've made it this far, then you'll know that I mentioned something about the time I got crabs in Tijuana from this.......Wait. That's not right. Ah, okay, now that I look closer I can see this is the DVD column (I get the different columns I write screwed up sometimes). Um, Tim Burton fans and sick Johnny Depp fans (JoBlo, Mom, Dad, etc.) are bound to go broke on November 8th with the re-release of his flicks coming out on DVD. Specs for Eddie Blades (as he's sometimes known) are below and specs for Big Feesh can be found HERE.
