The Latest Announcements

Sin City (SE)/War of the Worlds

Just to reiterate, the new Sin City DVD will kick all forms of ass. JoBlo scooped up the info last week and laid the specs all out HERE. Specs include new 15 minute film school and cooking school features as found on the special editions for El Mariachi/Desperado/Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

Omar "Drop it like it's hot" Aviles also scooped the War of the Worlds specs a couple of days ago. As per usual, there will be a single disc edition and a double disc Limited Edition with probably another Limited Special Edition next year or something. The Single Disc Edition's only special feature is a featurette called Designing the Enemy: Tripods and Aliens, while the specs for the double disc Limited Edition can be found below.

2-Disc Limited Edition:

  • Revisiting the Invasion: Introduction with Steven Spielberg
  • The H. G. Wells Legacy
  • Production Diary: Part I - Filming on the East Coast , Part A
  • Production Diary: Part II - Filming on the West Coast, Part A
  • Pre-Visualization
  • Designing the Enemy: Tripods and Aliens
  • And much more!

Bad News Bears - December 13

Early specs on Richard Linklater's new kid friendly vehichle includes a Commentary with said Linklater, deleted scenes, outtakes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, video baseball cards of the players and trailers. It will be available in seperate anamorphic widescreen and full screen editions. While it's always good to see a cool director taking chances in a different genre and just flat out still working, I'll be more excited to see something of his that doesn't involve the little rugrats.

"Hey, you girls need a ride? The bus won't be here for a while."

Dark Water - December 26

Some time ago we announced the release of Dark Water, which convieniently hits streets just as you're cleaning up all that Christmas wrapping to scare the shit out of you. Specs are to include deleted scenes, something called "The Sound of Terror" which "reveals the subliminal soundscape of the film", and "Beneath The Surface: The Making of Dark Water". Also, the film will be available in the original theatrical PG-13 version and an Unrated version with footage not seen in theatres. Jennifer Conneley showing off her fun bags? One could only hope.

Rodriguez Mexico Trilogy - November 1

An interesting item while browsing DVDAnswers was something called The Robert Rodriguez Mexico Trilogy which includes, for now at least, bare bones editions of El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Check out the artwork HERE We'll update your candy ass if Columbia Tristar decides to include any bonus materials, but for now, here are some pics of JoBlo.com poster girl, Salma Moreno Hayek.

"Does this make me look fat?"

"Care to....hang around for awhile?"

Menu Shots

Titanic (SE)

Mallrats (SE): A much deserved and long awaited special edition. Murder and maim if you have to to get this. Okay, just maim. 9/20

Carlito's Way (SE): Yet another great special edition, just lacking a bit in the special features. Mildly brush past someone to get this. 9/20

Scary Movie 3.5: Possibly the funniest Scary Movie out of the trilogy, but still lackluster. 9/20
