Fincher works Torso

01.12.2006

David Fincher has a serial killer flick coming this year in ZODIAC and has just signed on to direct another, TORSO, based on the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis. The film follows Eliot Ness and takes place after the events in THE UNTOUCHABLES when the Capone case is closed. Ness moves to Cleveland and begins a new investigation when dismembered body parts and headless torsos start washing up on shore at Lake Erie Sound. Like Alan Moore's FROM HELL, it's a "based on a true story" type tale that fictionalizes some parts to surmise what may have happened. Ehren Kruger (THE RING) will write the script for Fincher and production is expected to begin after the director wraps his next film, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON with Brad Pitt. TORSO is set up at Paramount who co-financed ZODIAC along with Warner Bros. For more on the real-life Cleveland Torso Killer case, you can head over to CourtTV's excellent Crime Library site to read all about it.
