A behind the scenes look at Pixar’s Day & Night short

I’m not really sure a short has gotten this much press before, but DAY & NIGHT, which will be the traditional animated short film shown before Pixar’s TOY STORY 3, and those behind it are attempting to explain just how unique the concept is.

There’s a short video below which has the creators attempting to describe their creation, but words fail them, as you really just have to see it. But a 2D figure with a 3D landscape inside them to me, doesn’t seem THAT hard to get my heard around, but I’m sure it might confuse some folk.

Here’s their best batch of words to try and describe the concept and visuals, and below that watch the video for a less eloquent explanation along with a few clips.

When Day, a sunny fellow, encounters Night, a stranger of distinctly darker moods, sparks fly! Day and Night are frightened and suspicious of each other at first, and quickly get off on the wrong foot. But as they discover each other’s unique qualities — and come to realize that each of them offers a different window onto the same world — the friendship helps both to gain a new perspective.
