Rapper-cum-actor Common has signed on to his second project in as many days. Just yesterday it was announced Mr. Common would be starring alongside Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman in WANTED and today we get word that he’s also joined Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker in the upcoming cop drama THE NIGHT WATCHMEN (I heard the project was going under the title KING’S X…keep an eye on this). Common will star as a drug runner who’s gone undercover in the police department. Kinda like Matt Damon in THE DEPARTED but a lot cooler. The film is kinda complicated to synopsize but basically it follows a cop who becomes disillusioned with his own ocassionally dirty tactics and looks to reveal corruption within his own ranks. David Ayer (HARSH TIMES) is directing based on an idea by James Ellroy. Common has an album “dropping” (that’s what the kids call it, right?) this summer and an appearance in AMERICAN GANGSTER later this year.
