A couple of posters and trailers for the haunting and oddly creepy Martha Marcy May Marlene have appeared online

We've already gotten a fairly straightforward trailer for Sean Durkin's feature directorial debut MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, and now we've been treated to two more - one from the perspective of 'Martha' (Elizabeth Olson) and the other from the perspective of 'Patrick' (John Hawkes). It's pretty clever.

Even more clever from a marketing point of view are these two posters for the film. Both feature big ol' QR codes that when scanned take you to its character's respective trailer. They're not exactly aesthetically pleasing, but they're certainly eye-catching and interesting, whether you know anything about QR codes or not. You can check out the two trailers below (I like the Patrick/John Hawkes one best), courtesy of The Film Stage.

MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE opens October 21st.

Synopsis: MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE stars Elizabeth Olsen as Martha, a damaged woman haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, who struggles to reassimilate with her family after fleeing a cult.

Just saw this today. Brilliant film, Elizabeth is by far the most talented of her family. Hawkes is great, too, another Oscar nom can't be far behind.

95% of QR codes I've come across are just links to website home pages but this is actually a pretty clever use, especially considering the multiple trailers.

I know QR Codes are very much a part of the zeitgeist, so you could view these as bandwagon-jumping rather than nice poster design, but I have to admit I actually really like these posters.
Entirely possible they've robbed the idea from somewhere else, but I've not seen it yet.
What happens when QR Code the movie gets made, though, where it's established that QR Codes allow demons into our dimension? That is roughly how one makes a movie where a current technology fad is used as a plot device.

So, are we suppose to scan the whole poster?
