A look at the world of the gods and the town of the humans in this Thor featurette

04.11.2011

I've been wondering when we would see some of the majesty of Thor's dimension of origin instead of just watching him get beat up here in the realm of mortals, but now we have a good look at the Thunder God's celestial home town.

This new behind-the-scenes look at THOR shows off some new glimpses of Asgard and how it might fit into the Marvel movie universe, along with an Earth town built from scratch. It's also the first real sense I've had that Kenneth Branagh actually directed this thing. (Although him appearing in the clip and discussing it is also a good indication.)

THOR opens May 6.

More Asgardian Hijinks!

Oh no! Not Earth! Haw! Haw! Haw!

Seriously, every clip they release makes this look more and more cheese--0-rific.

Yor: The Hunter from the Future will look like Citizen Kane next to this lemon.

If only MST3K was still on the air...

Tidbit.

In order to achieve a big opening W/E and to just compete against other films, yes it needed to be 3D. Also it pretty much destroys piracy. Unless a 2D screener gets leaked. Working in the film industry I'm obviously dead against piracy and believe 3D to be a great tool for the directors box of tricks. I agree with CJN, there should be a standardised way of describing it so audiances can make the choice. Though as conversions go - Thor will stand up pretty well. My only concern is story. Will

Will the story be epic and engaging? Or will it just be another my the numbers Marvel flick like IronMan?

There should be a law stating mandatory separation between the concepts, e.g. "True 3D" and "3D Converted".
Exactly like "HD-Ready" and "Full HD".

I love Thor, I love his story, I love all the mythos that is surrounded with him. One of my fav. comic book heros. I can only hope this movie comes up to a quarter of my expectation of it. I want to see this more than Capt. or First Class. Please let this movie make me shoot a load in my pants! Please!!!!

No it didn't! But studios love money and they think 3D will guarantee just that.

2 things-I'm always impressed by the incredible amount of work that goes into (especially) these big budget films. + Question, will Stan Lee (88 years old) make his usual cameo in this Marvel Universe based film??? I sure hope so!

Those Asgard shots are my god damned dream!!! I would love to see an entire movie take place just there, with effects of that quality, and that lighting, and that cinematography. *droooooools*

That might be interesting.

Unfortunately it would appear that we're getting something approaching vaudevillian slapstick.

Everything I've seen and read says that the creative team behind this movie REALLY gets it. It's going to be a great film because the character offers so much to draw upon.

Tidbit: Who cares about 3D if the story is good?
