A new Aquaman poster washes in with the oncoming tide

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A new poster for DC's AQUAMAN has bubbled to the surface courtesy of director James Wan's personal Twitter account, which features Jason Momoa's aquatic avenger breaching the ocean depths as he lifts his mighty trident to the sky above. Along with the poster reveal, Wan shared the fortuitous words “A Son of the Land… A King of the Seas… He’s the protector of the Deep. Something arrives tomorrow.” Momoa also posted the new promotional art via his personal Instagram account, which included the sentiment "A bridge between two worlds. Something exciting is coming tomorrow Aloha j." You can check out the new poster for yourself below:

In Aquaman, Jason Momoa stars as Arthur Curry, known to many as Aquaman, the half-human, half-Atlantean member of the Justice League. When his first solo adventure arrives like a typhoon in theaters, AQUAMAN will tell the story of how Arthur Curry comes to grips with his rise to power as the King of Atlantis. Along his journey, Arthur will encounter a bitter familial rivalry, unimagined horrors from the blackest depths of the ocean below, and a sense of responsibility toward his people unlike he's ever known.

Starring alongside Momoa for the sea-faring fantasy saga are co-stars Amber Heard (JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE RUM DIARY) as Mera, a passionate and relentless warrior and Aquaman's reliant partner throughout his journey, Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE) as Vulko, council to the Atlantean throne, Patrick Wilson (HARD CANDY, INSIDIOUS) as Orm/Ocean Master, the modern King of Atlantis, Dolph Lundgren (ROCKY IV, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER) as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (THE GET DOWN, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN) as the vindictive Black Manta, and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (EYES WIDE SHUT, THE OTHERS) as Arthrur's mother, Atlanna. Ludi Lin (POWER RANGERS, LOST IN HONG KONG) also stars as Captain Murk, Atlantean Commando, with Temuera Morrison (GREEN LANTERN, MOANA ) as Arthur's dad, Tom Curry.

The film is expected to have a big presense at this year's New York City Comic Con, which just kicked off early Thursday morning. We can no doubt look forward to more than a few surprises from DC's upcoming solo superhero release throughout the weekend, so be sure to stay close as more hype rises to the surface.

Directed by James Wan from a script by Will Beall (GANGSTER SQUAD) and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (THE CONJURING 2), and based on a story conjured by Geoff Johns, Wan and Beall, AQUAMAN will wash ashore in theaters on December 21st.
