A new Evil Dead?

For years, Sam Raimi has fielded questions about another sequel in the horror classic EVIL DEAD series, and his company Ghost House has floated the possibility of a remake, but so far nothing has crawled from the fruit cellar.

So how about a version… with song? The popular off-Broadway play EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL might be the closest we get to seeing our beloved buffoon Ash killing Deadites on the big screen at any point in the future. The show producers are reportedly talking with Raimi about making a film version based on the stage show, intended to be shot in gloriously gory 3-D (watch out for that eye!).

The original show, which ran in Toronto and New York, took an operatic approach to Raimi’s bloodbath (complete with splatter zone), featuring tunes such as “What the F*ck Was That?”, “Look Who’s Evil Now”, “Good, Bad, I’m the Guy with the Gun”, and “All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons”.
