Things have been relatively quiet on the Mega City One front of late, and with the release date fast approaching such silence might make even the most die hard fan nervous.  But now that quiet has been finally broken, if only in two small yet very important ways.  The first is an awfully pretty action shot of Judge Dredd himself (Karl Urban in a much-deserved starring role), and the second is a nicely detailed plot synopsis that lays out all of the trials and tribulations that will be faced by Judges Dredd and Anderson throughout the course of the movie.

"The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival."

The battle begins for Judge and fan alike on September 21st.

Extra Tidbit: Tacked on at the end of the above description was this tidbit: "Filmed in 3D with stunning slow motion photography sequences." I'll admit to being rather curious about the second half of that sentence. Let's see a trailer!

Waste of time

No Rob Schneider, no ticket sale. JK , no in all honesty this movie will blow chunks. Really? Using slow motion in an action movie, but giving it a purpose in the plot calling a drug Slo-Mo?? Sounds stupid. This movie will be less remembered than the 90's one.

This sounds great. We finally get a Dredd movie that centers on straight up action.

I just watched The Raid last night and this sounds exactly like it. Except sci-fi and lame. Save your time and watch The Raid instead.
