A new promo image for The Last Jedi features an epic rebel roll call

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It's times like this when I wish that Instagram would allow audio files to be attached to stilled images. C'mon, you can't tell me that this new promotional poster for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI isn't begging to be viewed while Bush's opening guitar riff for "Everything Zen" cranks in the background.

Not long ago, in a galaxy that's very much your own, MovieNewsNow took to their official Instagram account to share an image that assembles many of THE LAST JEDI's heroes. The image includes Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley’s Rey, John Boyega's Finn, Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron, Chewie, BB8, and franchise newcomer Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico.

As the opening date for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI nears, fans have been speculating as to what manner of surprises the film will spring, in addition to how new characters being introduced are important to the saga's on-going lore. In regard to Rose Tico, Tran says that her character is "not cool." In fact, the actress went on to explain that, "She’s this nobody, this background player, which is what makes her interesting. She’s not the best. She’s not royalty. She’s someone who is just like everyone else.”

I would imagine that standing out in the STAR WARS universe can be rough, particularly with so many fabled heroes running around all the time. Tico's deal is that she feels overshadowed by her sister, Paige, a Resistance gunner who's said to be just as savvy with the mounted blasters as Poe Dameron. Woof, those must have been some awkward family dinners, eh? "Rose, did you congratulate your sister on her new gunner's trophy yet?"

We're sure that there's lots more STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI promo art to come, though for now, let's all take comfort in the fact that STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI will arrive in theaters on December 15th.
