A slew of promo posters and banners for Resident Evil: Retribution mutate online

05.30.2012

The next entry in the Resident Evil franchise is still a short wait away, but today we have a nice gaggle of promotional posters and banners that feature the various characters, monsters, settings, and boot kicks to the face that you've come to expect from the property.

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION is the fifth film in the series and brings back director Paul W.S. Anderson to helm the stunning Milla Jovovich as the ass-kicking Alice, along with some other series favorites like Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Isaacs, and Kevin Durand.

Get some Retribution:

These all look pretty cool to me. I think the Resident Evil marketing crew has got it going on for the most part. I like the array of different types of imagery they put together with all the craziness they have to work with. If nothing else, it's just good fun. I dig it. You?

Here's the synopsis:

The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION starts slaying cheesy CGI monsters on September 14th, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: These movies typically fall into the Underworld category for me...hot chick(s) in hot outfits kicking ass...but, ultimately forgettable. I know they have a massive built-in audience though and that's respectable.

Zombies (or whatever) riding motorcycles now? Oh dear.
Enjoyed the last movie more than I expected to though.

Can't Wait!

These posters are awesome! ...And I usually don't get excited for today's movie posters. They're always underwhelming. But I really dig these.

Fuck these movies and fuck Paul W.S. Anderson. Resident Evil 6 (the game) can't get here soon enough.

someone please help me out?

I just finished watching resident evil 4 3-d on bluray. Awful film of course, but I just bought an 50 inch 3d tv and the 3d is awesome. However I noticed something very weird in the film. It seems to be missing a credit sequence! The title of the film(resident evil - afterlife) never appears on screen and neither do the most important credits, directed by, producers, music by etc.
Is this something they bizarrely cut from the dutch blu ray, or is this a mistake on every version of this film.

(I even fast fowarded through the 2d version, but neither the beginning nor the end feature these credits)

I largely didn't like most of the movies so far

but to tell you the truth, these posters are pretty damn cool! It just doesn't make any sense to me, I'm mean based off of this article the marketing campaign for RE: Retribution is actually BETTER than both The Avengers' and The Dark Knight Returns'. How that make sense I don't know, and it's unfortunate, but it seems true at this point. The movie will probably still suck and there's a 99.9% chance that it won't be as good as either Avengers/TDKR (maybe more) but still, wow

God Damnit

I know the film series has a dedicated fan base. But this has utterly destroyed any potential for film series that has anything to do with, you know, the SOURCE MATERIAL.

This movies are the equivalent of adapting Lord of the Rind into film, creating a new main character that has nothing to do with the LOTR universe, removing the fantasy elements (aka the Survival Horror side of RE), and not having Frodo show up till the 4th movie.

Tuesday Night Rental

I appreciate that between Resident Evil and Underworld, the female action hero is getting movies made. I just wish the movies were better. I have never felt compelled to a see a single one of these films from either franchise at the theater.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't seen any of these in the theater since I was suckered into seeing the first sequels to both franchises. Now, they're placed low in the Netflix Queue

01.03.12 ??

I love me some good looking expensive B-movies. The poster with the giant demon killed me !

On another note, I can't figure out what they mean by 01.03.12, since Jan. 3rd is behind us...

I believe that was the original release date before they pushed it back.
