A "Strange" body double will replace Cumberbatch in Avengers: Infinity War

The largest film in Marvel’s cinematic history, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, is expected to begin shooting quite soon in Atlanta, Georgia. Only … there’s a bit of “strange” news circulating that Marvel Studios will have no choice but to use a body double when capturing Benedict Cumberbatch’s embryonic scenes. You see, while Doctor Strange has been confirmed as a character to be featured in the film, Cumberbatch is currently hard at work filming THE CURRENT WAR for Alfonso Gomez-Rejon - a biographical picture about Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse’s race to create a sustainable system and market for the American people.

As a point of fact, THE CURRENT WAR co-stars Tom Holland, who we all know is currently doing everything a Spider can for the MCU. Due to this scheduling conflict, Marvel has commissioned Broadway actor Aaron Lazar to stand-in as Cumberbatch’s Strange body double. Now, I know what you’re thinking; and the answer is no, the studio has no plans to superimpose Benedict’s face onto Lazar’s chiseled mug. The Broadway star will simply act as a replacement for Cumberbatch until the Sherlockian actor is available for re-shoots. The fact of the matter is that things like this happen all the time. There’s no reason to panic.

For those of you who really enjoy the antics of Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, you’ll be able to catch the Sorcerer Supreme, again, when he makes an appearance in THOR: RAGNOROK - which is on deck to hit theaters on November 3, 2017.

Extra Tidbit: I like to play with Benedict Cumberbatch's name in my spare time. Some of my favorite ways to mis-pronounce his name are: Beneful Cumberbun, Benefactor Cumbersnatch, and Benihana Cumberdoodle.

Yup, very common, but still worth reporting on to clear the air/ provide some clarity as to what this means. Without clarifying, people get all mixed up and the next thing you know - half the internet thinks Benedit was only CGI'd into Infinity War.

Extra tidbit: Benihana Cumberdoodle LOL! As for the news, the body double reminds me of young Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

Very usual occurance.

Especially in movies with such a large cast of busy actors. They just need the actors talking to someone where you only see the back of their heads or if they are in a CG heavy scene they just need a stand in to get a sense of the actors size/build. You can't have RDJ, Chris Evans and ScarJo waiting on call for Cumberbatch to be available so they film as much as they can without him.

Hmm... Trying to figure out why they just don't wait until Cumberbatch is ready to shoot instead of wasting time if they are going to plan re-shoots anyways.

Scheduling for so many actors usually makes this happen. It's just for scenes where you see someone talking to another character but all you can see is the backside of the other characters head. Or in scenes with a lot of CG, they just need like a stunt double or stand in to get shots done with an estimate of the actors size/build.

Hmm

Trying to figure out why this is even an article if it's such a common occurrence.
