A-Team gets a date

Mar. 20, 2008by: Mike Sampson

Wondering when you can start camping out in front of your local theater with your Mr. T lunchbox? Wait no longer - a date for the big-screen A-TEAM movie has been announced. Fox has set June 12, 2009 as the date for A-TEAM, which is based on the cereal that was based on the cartoon that was based on the popular 80s TV show. John Singleton will direct the film with a script by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (WANTED). Exact plot details haven't been announced but I have it on good authority that the film will follow a crack commando unit that was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. And supposedly, if you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them (that's if, cause they're crafty motherf*ckers), maybe you can hire... The A-Team. Casting for THE A-TEAM also hasn't been announced but coming off his successful turn in TROPIC THUNDER, how about Robert Downey, Jr. as B.A. Baracus? Just a thought...

Extra Tidbit: THE A-TEAM will go up against the Eddie Murphy comedy NOWHERELAND on June 12.

I have seen the show twice i guess, it wasn't that bad. But something telling me this will kick ass.

I wonder if...

I wonder if anyone will actually get killed in the movie??? This could really work and I hope they offer cameos to Mr T, Dwight Schultz and Dirk Benedict. Although - I believe Mr Benedict was offered a part in the new BSG but he turned it down (idiot).

Ideal cast?

Owen Wilson as Face, Ben Stiller as Howling Mad Murdoch, Ving Rhames as B.A. Baracus and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Hannibal. C'mon Singleton, you know it makes sense.

They really should just cast Mr.T. That character might as well have been named Mr.T. That would be like somebody else playing Clubber Lange. It would just be a Mr. T impression.

COOL!

Excellent news!

I would say that they should cast:

George Clooney as Hannibal
Ving Rhames as BA Baracus
Ryan Renolds as Face
Jim Carrey as Howling Mad Murdoch

I say it could only work as a kind of next generation thing....though then it would more be the B-Team than the A-Team.

Ving Rhames as Baracus
Vince Vaughn as Murdoch
Val Kilmer as Faceman
Ed Harris as Hannibal

Ultimate_Surfer is right...WHAT'S TO STOP THIS FROM SUCKING?

Dukes, Vice, S&H...THEY ALL SUCKED BALLS!

And Vice is probably the biggest disappointment, IMO. They had the original show's executive producer, Michael "The Man With The Plan" Mann directing it; And even with an AIGHT cast (honestly, would it have been THAT BAD if they had brought back Johnson and Thomas back, compared to the 0 chemistry-having likes of Foxx and Farrell) and a new, darker, and sleeker look (handheld wasn't a bad touch), he still couldn't pull it out of the shitter.

So good cast or not, until a teaser trailer proves otherwise, I consider this overall project A BAD IDEA.

Hell, if they renamed "Tropic Thunder" to "The A-Team", I'd be cool with that.
