A-Team movie delayed

When a plan doesn’t come together? Hannibal hates the shit outta that.

So he’s probably none too happy about the news that the long-in-development feature of THE A-TEAM has been postponed. Although it was initially announced as a Summer 2009 tentpole, Fox has now pushed the intended release to June 2010.

This also means that director John Singleton has left the project, and it’s safe to assume that previous casting speculation (Tyrese, Ice Cube) probably went with him. The studio wants further work done on the script (already rewritten several times), which contemporized the mercenary quartet from Vietnam vets to Iraq War soldiers.

The 80s TV show followed a team of hired heroes who protect innocents for cold cash while constantly running from the authorities for “crimes they didn’t commit”. This generally involved shooting in the vicinity of enemies without actually hitting them, and constructing some sort of makeshift military vehicle.

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE is now Fox’s only big genre release for next summer.
