A Wayans GI Joe?

The GI JOE movie has come under a lot of scrutiny from the fanboy community almost from the very beginning. That same scrutiny is about to get a little tighter with the addition of Marlon Wayans, who has signed on to play Ripcord. To those who bristle at the thought of having one of the stars of WHITE CHICKS in GI JOE, I'll remind you that Wayans was actually quite impressive in REQUIEM FOR A DREAM. Not that he'll be amazing in GI JOE but I suppose it's a little hope. And to give you some serious hope, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, one of the most underrated actors of his generation, is also in negotiations to join the film in an unnamed role. Actors already signed on to star in the big-budget adaptation are Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Said Taghmaoui. Stephen Sommers (VAN HELSING) is directing he film from a script by...who knows at this point. There have been so many drafts it's hard to keep track and at one point they had two competing scripts going up against each other. Stuart Beattie is the current credited writer for what it's worth. Filming is scheduled to begin shooting next month in Los Angeles.

Extra Tidbit: The GI JOE movie is set 10 years in the future.
