It’s becoming very clear that the upcoming Steve Jobs film isn’t going to be a biopic; we know that the structure of the film doesn’t lend itself to the biopic standard as it will focus on three specific points in time over more than a decade. The film will be directed by the great Danny Boyle and was scripted by Aaron Sorkin (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) who has provided some more insight into what we can expect from the project.

Speaking with The Independent Sorkin confirmed that an "announcement [on casting] is imminent" and that "It’s a 181-page script, about 100 of it is that one character." He also mentioned how Steve Jobs’ daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, did not speak to Walter Isaacson for the book which the film based off but did spend some time with Sorkin himself:

Both films are much more about the people than the technology they invented. With The Social Network, I was interested in the psychology of the world’s most successful social networking system being invented by the world’s most anti-social guy. And in the case of Steve Jobs, it’s the relationships he had – particularly with his daughter, Lisa – that drew me to it. She didn’t participate in Walter Isaacson’s book, because her father was alive at the time, and she didn’t want to alienate either of her parents, so I was very grateful that she was willing to spend time with me. She is the heroine of the movie.

Sorkin has said that the actor who eventually takes the role of Jobs would be in nearly every frame of the film. It’s a shame that Christian Bale passed on it, I really thought if anyone was going to crush the role it would have been him. It will be interesting to see now the daughter angle plays out in the film with the style of filmmaking the movie plans on taking.

With the casting to be announced soon (officially, finally), what’s your dream casting for this role?
