ABC eyeing Agent Carter and 2nd season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

04.15.2014

It appears Marvel and ABC are moving forward with an Agent Carter television series. Deadline has learned the show hasn't received a green light yet, but will probably go straight to series, and won't have a pilot like most new shows. The site also says Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will more than likely be renewed for a second season, and Agent Carter might air in the fall and spring when S.H.I.E.L.D. goes on hiatus.

Hayley Atwell will return for ABC and Marvel's new series, however they are being just as secretive with Agent Carter as they were with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., so there aren't too many details on the television project. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn't been a huge success for the network, but I'm really not surprised to hear it'll probably be picked up for a second season.

If Agent Carter is the same series Marvel and ABC are planning on shooting in Vancouver (which I'm 99.9% sure it is), production should start in a couple of months, so we could be hearing more about the new series very soon.

What would you like to see in Marvel and ABC's Agent Carter?

Could be cool. If they use what they have at their disposal. Like Hydra, AIM, Zola, Strucker, Viper, MODOK, Baron Zemo and so on. The things AOS should be using. Hell even Winter Soldier should show up. Also if Christina Hendricks, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Kat Dennings are anything to go by the show already has in a built in audience because of Atwell's assets.

Quick ABC!!! Hurry up and make a series about the least interesting Marvel Cinematic character out there! I mean I guess this series would help Disney get more teenage girls interested in the Marvel cinematic universe. Haven t they had trouble figuring out the consistency of AOS? I could see this being a disaster, bring on the Netflix series already!!!!

Guess Im the only one who feels the need to ask "What the hell do we need a Agent Carter show for?" Im sorry but nothing about the character appealed to me in The First Avenger. I can see A.O.S. doing acouple of episodes focusing on how Carter was instrumental to forming S.H.I.E.L.D., but a whole show? Not feeling it. As for Coulson and crew, I hope this show starts to get better and better, the last few episodes seem to be heading in that direction.

Watch the Peggy Carter one shot that's attached to Iron Man 3. After you finish viewing it, slap yourself in the face a couple of times for what you wrote.

Are you serious? First off - I did see the Peggy Carter one-shot, Im offended you think you know so much about me. Second - thats not enough to start a show, especially since there have been shows were a strong female is in the lead kicking butt, never walked out of Capt America hearing people say, " That Capt guy was alright, but give me more of that Peggy Dame that didnt care for Rogers til he had muscles." Third - the hell with slapping, you need to have your ass kicked for even talking to

Agents of SHIELD really turned around with that last episode; I like the direction in which it's headed. I hope the two characters from Item 47 pop up on Agents of SHIELD soon.

good to hear

like just about any show, its take a bit of time to get going and really settle into the story, very few tv shows have hit the ground running, AOS has gotten a whole lot better and im ready for season 2, and will def give an agent carter show a shot

AOS is still pretty rough, last few have been pretty good and really curious to see what happens post Cap 2, but any Arrow fan knows it took a HUGE chunk of season 1 to become a good show. If you liked Arrow off the bat, you are more than welcome to think so. It took me till about the same time as AOS to really like and look forward to Arrow.
Just sayin'
As for Agent Carter, I wish them luck, i'll even try it out, but this seems like such a random idea. I mean, why not just do a comedy

At least he was really popular. Carter has 1 movie as a supporting character and a cameo. Loki has been main character 2 times as well as the main villain.

Spoilers

I'll agree about Arrow. It was good in the beginning, but when Oliver reveals himself to be the Arrow to Tommy is when the show went from good to great. It's been all uphill from there.

i totally agree about Arrow, it took 11 episodes for it to get good in my opinion, but it hasnt really let me down since. AOS started rough, but has picked up a lot since the mid season finale. The inclusion of the events from Cap 2 will keep me watching.

If they treat the series like they did in the Marvel one shot (attached to Iron Man 3), then it will be better than AoS. Especially if they set it in the early 50's and keep the Mad Men vibe they had going in the one shot.

i dont understand

what is this fascination with Agent Carter? to the point that Marvel thinks we want to see this "dame with plenty of moxy and a gun" story stretched out into a series? she played well off Cap's super boy scout but this series can only be an origin of SHIELD and, judging by the lukewarm ratings of Agents, I dont see the need/selling point. let it go, Marvel, and get on with Heroes for Hire already.

An origin of SHIELD might be interesting, but I haven't seen the one-shot to know what they might have planned.

As for Heroes for Hire, I figure we'll be getting that, more or less, with the Netflix shows... Cage and Iron Fist will have to crossover at some point.

Now an Agent Carter television series is something I can get behind. I may get back into Agents of Shield again starting tonight since it seems like the show has improved over the last couple of episodes; especially since Winter Soldier came out. But I wouldn't be surprised either if just decided to turn it off halfway through the episode.

it has gotten better, its nothing compared to arrow, but its not garbage. Agent Carter tho kind of seems like a no reason show.

Agents of shield has come a long way from it's first few episodes, and it truly does deserve a second season. It's a shame so many people have written it off. Watching the last episode after seeing Captain America was definitely a fun and unique television experience!

I agree. It started off very slow, but it's gotten better for sure. Not the level of Arrow by any stretch, but its not a piece of garbage like most are saying.

You're discharged, sarge.

Exactly. If people would give it a chance they'd like it, especially when it connects to the feature films.
Glad to see another universal soldier fan!

I can't comment on Agents of Shield as I haven't bothered to watch an episode after some of the negative feedback, but honestly who wants an Agent Carter show? she was an alright character in captain but I feel like everything I needed to know about her was said in the first and second movies.

I tuned out of AoS after one episode because it was terrible, but an Agent Carter series could be interesting. Atwell was great in the role and one of the best parts of the first Captain America movie. I imagine the series would play much like Alias in a period setting, which would be fine by me. We'll see, though. AoS hasn't left me very optimistic for Marvel television shows.

Fair enough, who knows it could be amazing and I'd be eating my words. I think if Fox was smart they'd start developing X-Men spinoff series as there's such a vast amount of characters to introduce in a film.

they made Generation X, but that bombed ass.
However I don't care about agent carter at all - why not pick ANY other character - marvel has a VAST amount to choose from, 90% of which are more interesting than her.
She isn't bad or anything, but I just don't care.
