Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter gets two new underwhelming stills

Jan. 16, 2012by:

Today I caught the behind the scenes footage from ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER. Well, that was after I cussed out the MTV video player for at least five minutes for being the most useless thing of all time. I never learn my lesson. After the viewing, I went from skeptical of Benjamin Walker as Lincoln to thinking he actually looks pretty good.

We already posted some news from the film earlier but there's more. To go with the behind the scenes footage and poster, we now have two new stills from the film. Okay, so they aren't too exciting but I have a feeling the trailer will be. At least I hope it is. I'd hate to be disappointed by a film called ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER.

"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a re-imagining of the 16th President's life that depicts him as an axe-throwing, highly accomplished killer of vampires -- an obsession of his since those bloodsuckers supposedly took the life of his mother. Lincoln eventually learns that the vampires have fled to the southern states of the U.S. and are concocting a plan to conquer and enslave the entire country -- this in turn leads to the Civil War between the Union and the Confederacy, the latter of which the vampires are aligned with."

Extra Tidbit: Benjamin Walker resembles Liam Neeson when in costume as Lincoln. Anyone else see it? No? Maybe?

Neg me all you want Southerners...

But I am just loving that there will finally be a movie....supernatural action thriller or no...that has the slave-owning Confederates be the bad guys again. Its become a sad cliche in Hollywood from John Wayne to Jude Law to romanticize the Confederacy or pretend the Civil War was about something other than the evils of slavery. Suck on that Hell on Wheels.

did you see Jonah Hex? John Malkovich played the evil leader of a confederate troop.

Yeah....and the 'hero' of Jonah Hex is outlaw Confederate soldier Jonah Hex.

Go to Germany, you categorically do not see movies or TV made there that romanticize the Nazis. But here its a-okay in movies, comics, television to paper over the fact that the "Confederate cause" was a belief that millions of Americans ought to be bought, sold, and kept as property.

I loved the book but by all indications the film version looks ill-advised or perhaps poorly captained.

They can have him kill as many vampires as they want but Daniel Day Lewis' Lincoln will still be 100 times more badass.
