Abrams Trek2 & MI4

09.15.2009

Creator of LOST and director of the awesome STAR TREK, JJ Abrams has some news on TREK 2 and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4.

SciFi Wire got the full Q&A on Abrams upcoming projects movie and television wise. The first question on the movies side of things started with TREK 2 and what was going on with the sequel, "We're hopefully going to have everyone, obviously, from the first cast. I keep trying to spread this rumor that I'm going to recast Kirk as Greg Grunberg, but no one ever prints it." Most likely because Chris Pine is a badass. Continuing on about the film, Abrams had a bit of information on the script, "We're just starting on that. Yes, we know the direction, but it's very early. We're working on a script right now still. I can tell you it's cool. We have some really cool ideas, but it's too early." Abrams also added that they hadn't started on the script but Orci and Kurtzman were still doing it, as well as Damon Lindelof.

So what's going on with the new MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movie? Abrams had this to say on it, "Yeah, we have a really cool story. It's being written right now by Andre Nemec and Josh Applebaum. We're hoping to get it [draft] soon, like by the end of the year." I'm a fan of MISSION and I think that Abrams could make it excellent. How does he feel about directing the fourth film in the series? "I'm open to anything." Sounds good to me.

Abrams also talked about his upcoming film MORNING GLORY starring Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams saying that it is being edited right now and will come out next year. As for a release date, he didn't have any information on that one. I'm of the opinion that if Abrams is in on a project, it's going to be awesome.

Extra Tidbit: So for my LOST fans, out of curiosity, how do you think that the show will come full circle in the last season?
