According to Isla Fisher, a Wedding Crashers sequel is in the works

Waiting a decade before releasing a sequel to a hit comedy film seems the thing to do right now, but have any of those belated sequels ever lived up to the original? Not likely, but that isn't about to stop Hollywood from churning out a few more. According to Isla Fisher, the next comedy flick to get the long-delayed sequel treatment will be WEDDING CRASHERS.

While appearing on The Today Show to promote Tom Ford's NOCTURNAL ANIMALS, Fisher was asked about a sequel to WEDDING CRASHERS.

I bumped into Vince Vaughn at a party and he said that apparently we’re going to be making a sequel, so I’m really excited to see what happened to Gloria.

Isla Fisher joked that she probably shouldn't have announced that on morning television as it's not a done deal just yet, but apparently "there's some talk of it, which is fun." WEDDING CRASHERS starred Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as John and Jeremy, a pair of divorce mediators who used the wedding season as an excuse to crash the celebrations and sleep with a lot of women. While attending a wedding for the daughter of the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury (played by Christopher Walken), John and Jeremy met the Secretary's two other daughters, Claire (Rachel McAdams) and Gloria (Isla Fisher), the latter of which was an emotionally unstable nymphomaniac who grew obsessed with Jeremy.

Sound off in the comments, do we need a sequel to WEDDING CRASHERS?

I hate this 10-20 years later sequels trend. Most of them of shit (Zoolander 2, Anchorman 2, ID4: Resurgnce).

On the one hand, I'd love to see Gloria again. Isla Fisher was never more unpredictably funny, and her chemistry with Vaughn was hilarious. But unless one or both of them is separated/divorced, there's no wedding to crash.

When Wedding Crashers came along, mainstream comedy was struggling. And here came an R-rated movie that was unapologetically crude and hilarious, and even the third act, which is when most comedies of this ilk get serious, was still pretty dang funny. But it wrapped itself

Terrible idea. The trend for sequels for comedies have been abysmal. I don't see a Crashers sequel changing this trend

Beside the fact sequels for movies like this have a terrible reputation right now...I just don't really see how you make a sequel to this movie that doesn't totally make the ending of the last one worthless. Do they break up with their significant others and fall back into crashing? Do they have to stop a bunch of young crashers that are going to, GASP, crash one of their own weddings? I just think the first one had a perfect premise and a nice emotional arc for everyone involved, and there's

Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Isla Fisher, and Rachel McAdams can all do funny really well. Just write something new for them.

There was already a sequel to Wedding Crashers like 3 years ago. Vaughn and Wilson both reprised their roles... what was it called... oh yeah... The Internship.

joking but i'm not joking

You're right. When The Onion said THE INTERNSHIP was the biggest comedy of 2005, they alluding WEDDING CRASHERS.

So far it's 0 for 3 on comedy sequels with late arriving sequels

I'm probably missing a few, but my 0 for 3 is Anchorman 2, Dumb & Dumber To, and Zoolander 2. All of these were sequels to great comedies that came very late. Perhaps Bad Santa 2 will break this negative trend, but I highly doubt it. I would love a great Wedding Crashers sequel, but I am pretty damn sure it won't happen.

One of my favorite comedies!

I'm down! I hope it's good. Even if it isn't, I'd watch it, but I hope it's at least as good as the original.

Awful idea. The first one is a classic and I don't think any sort of sequel could EVER match the quality of the original.
