Actress Joey King reveals major spoiler for The Dark Knight Rises

Jan. 20, 2012by: Paul Shirey

Out of respect for those who don’t want to know every detail (and for those who do) I’m going to reiterate that this is a pretty big spoiler in terms of a certain character, so if you want to remain in the “dark,” then hit the back button on your browser and continue to enjoy the other fine stories from your pals here at JoBlo.

Okay, still here? Cool. So, check it out, twelve-year-old actress Joey King, whose character had not been named when cast, has revealed who she’s playing in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

Any guesses? I’ll clear it up for you with her own quote from an interview with My Entertainment World:

“I play young Talia al Ghul.”

She goes on to say, “I can’t give too much away because I promised Mr. Nolan I wouldn’t say anything. There are too many secrets about the character and the movie.”

Uh, you just gave away a major one there, young lady.

This should help clear up the mystery of who Marion Cotillard is playing, despite her insistency that it is NOT Talia al Ghul. Yeah, nice try, Marion.

I’ve been reading Batman comics for more than 15 years and everything about Cotillard’s appearance, wardrobe, and general fit within the storyline adds up to one Talia al Ghul. And, hey, I’m excited about it. Talia is one of Batman’s greatest foe’s in the comics (and the mother of his son, Damien…aka the current Robin), who acts as both a cunning villain and a secret lover. Makes for some great conflict for ol’ Bruce Wayne.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES opens on July 20th, 2012. Thanks for buying up all the IMAX tickets for opening night before I could get one, by the way.

Extra Tidbit: Joey King was most recently seen on the big screen in Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Hmm... This is interesting.

I'm not sure what, if any bearing this is gonna have on the future events... Whether she is behind Bane's actions, or if her character is only there for the flashback sequence. So far, we have heard nothing about what role the League of Shadows will play in this film... The only thing that concerns me is how this film is gonna balance Talia if this is true... between Catwoman, Bane, and the League, I'm a little curious to see if Nolan can balance this one a little better than Raimi did with

I know he wants this film to be epic, because it'd be pointless to make a follow up to The Dark Knight if it isn't, but he may try to cram too much into one film to try and close out the series. But we can really only wait to see more... In my mind, Nolan has never done anything that wasn't visually and intellectually impressive. Let's hope he doesn't start now.

Well look how he handled it in TDK, I mean technically didn't it have 3 villains, Scarecrow (in a brief scene), The Joker (majority of the movie) & then Two-face (last 30 mins) & no doubt Nolan can do the same with this one. People need to remember SPidey 3 didn't suck because of Raimi, the studio screwed it up because it wanted Venom to please fanboys.

Getting a little nervous here

I'm still looking forward to this movie but with three villains (Bane, Catwoman and Talia al Ghul), this is giving me flashbacks to Spiderman 3. And that's not a good thing.

I assume she is not revealed as Talia towards the end of the film, sort like Harvey/Two Face in The Dark Knight.

Oh and I love how she calls him Mr. Nolan.

Batman Begins had 3 villains in Falcone, Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghul, not to mention Ubu and Zsasz thrown in there as well. Then in TDK you got Scarecrow, Joker, Two-Face and all the Mobsters. Nolan can balance a lot of plots and characters, it's what he does best.

Well Catwoman won't be a full villain, she'll be a hero by the end. And Talia will be "Marion" in the beginning, and we may only find out she's Talia in the end. A little switch between the two.

Relax, Talia will probably be a love interest to Bruce Wayne, not a villain. I hope I'm right, because if she is a villain, then this movie may end up bad like Spider-man 3.

It's funny that people still think Spiderman 3 sucked because it had 3 villains and not because of emo peter parker, shitty translation of venom, terrible dialogue, and many other terrible qualities. But I guess people still just sum its suckiness all up to the fact that it had 3 villains.

I guarantee some of the people who cry about spoilers still visited this page and read it. Of course they idiot proofed it, so they can't complain without exposing their douchebaggery.
Someone may still say they clicked on the link becuase they read fast and have cat like reflexes so they couldn't help it.

Not exactly a shocker. Come on people, Joey King looks like a mini-Marion Cotillard.

Once again I could not resist reading the REALLY BIG DEAL spoiler and once again it does not seem to spoil much at all.
