Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's next rom com gets a new title

07.31.2013

There's no shame in saying that your are looking forward to the next flick from Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Sure, GROWN-UPS 2 may not have been the comedy flick you were aiming to see but Sandler and Barrymore aren't putting out rom coms every year.

Their next project has been retitled from BLENDED to now THE FAMILYMOON. The title was changed simply because marketing showed that the latter was liked more. What was wrong with BLENDED? THE FAMILYMOON just screams cheesy. I can see the poster now. Yuck.

This is not to say that it won't be a good movie though the plot doesn't completely sell me. The film centers on "a couple that, after a terrible blind date, find themselves and their children from past marriages stuck together at a resort for families." You know they'll get together because they always do but…what if they don't? Dun dun dun! Yeah, not likely.

THE FAMILYMOON is due to release on May 23, 2014.

Here's a title......

Should tile it "Open Coffin" and I hope both of them are in it.

I was briefly interested when I read Sandler and Drew are doing another movie together, since they have great chemistry. Then I read the story outline and lost that interest.
Let me just play this out so no one has to see this:
They realize they're stuck at the resort, they fight and argue, but then they start liking each other, they kiss, the end.

Other than his movies with Drew

I cannot stomach him. However, I love 50 First Dates and especially The Wedding Singer. I have high hopes I'll enjoy this one as well. They do have great chemistry together. Please let it be good! Hate the title though. The Familymoon? smh

Sandler and pals are box office cancer. Yeah, he was good in the 90s and now Hollywood types think that somehow those of us who grew up with his CDs and early movies can relate to him in these tepid romcoms. His following is gone. He's lost the magic and lost us. Give him a bit part in Expendables 3 as comic relief (just have him die funny) and put him out to pasture for good.

Box office cancer? His following is gone? He now has 14 $100 million movies. That is one more than Will Smith and one less than Tom Cruise.

These two have excellent chemistry. I love The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates was entertaining as well, so I actually am holding out a little hope for this one.

Sandler has been churning out terrible, terrible movies - but somehow, he and Barrymore did make for an interesting and very watchable romantic pairing in their two earlier films. I doubt he can give us something that feels like The Wedding Singer, but that would be a welcome change from all the That's My Boys, Jack and Jills and Grown Upses.
