Adam Sandler & Chris Rock to reunite for a new Netflix movie

Adam Sandler Chris Rock The Week Of

Love 'em or hate 'em, Adam Sandler's movies for Netflix have been extremely popular, so much so that the streaming company recently signed Sandler up for four more movies. After THE RIDICULOUS SIX, THE DO-OVER and SANDY WEXLER, the actor still had one more movie remaining on his original contract with Netflix, but it hadn't yet been revealed what that movie would be. Netflix filled in that blank today when it was announced that Adam Sandler and Chris Rock will be starring in THE WEEK OF, a new comedy which is set to begin production this summer.

The flick will take place during the week of preparation for a wedding in which Adam Sandler's daughter is marrying Chris Rock's son. I'm fairly certain that you can imagine where it goes from there; yelling, funny voices and somebody gets hit in the balls. THE WEEK OF will be directed by Saturday Night Live writer and producer Robert Smigel, who co-wrote the script with Adam Sandler. It's been some time since Sandler was last able to tickle my funny bone, but there are clearly millions of people who still get a kick out of Sandler's brand.

Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos had this to say:

Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are cornerstones of the Netflix comedy family and we are over the moon about these two legends reuniting to give our members worldwide a healthy dose of the hilarity that they have been creating together for years. Similar in the romantic comedy tone of Sandler's most recent film Sandy Wexler, this film will be the perfect vehicle for Sandler and Rock and their millions of fans around the world.

THE WEEK OF will debut on Netflix in 2018.

Sandlers Netflix movies and past indie movies have been great

Sandy Wexler was a lot of fun. It was a classic Sandler style character. He was believably goofy and there wasn't a reliance on potty humor.

I would have preferred a team up with Schneider, but i'm assuming thats in the works as well. What can I say, Chris Rock is TERRIBLE in films when he has to do more then a few scenes, he was good in the old days as the comic relief, but that man cant carry a film for shit. Adam Sandler, I love the guy, tolerated him even after Jack and Jill, I actually enjoyed Just Go With it, and That's my Boy I thought was classic Sandler and I didnt get the hate for that one. His Netflix movies are GARBAGE. Ridiculous six was actually okay, their was some funny stuff their actually, but everything after is terrible, I thought the spade team up would be awesome, hardly a few laughs available in that one, Sandy Wexler is terrible, for maybe a drama it actually wasnt horrible, but as a comedy it was cringeworthy, anyways, I still feel he can hit one out of the ballpark but he eating too much now, guys loaded, making millions from netflix, he could make a movie about taking a shit and people would watch it,

Schneider is working on season 2 of his Real Rob Netflix series. But don't count him out fully. He will probably turn up in a small role.

Would love to see Sandler actually give a shit again and try his hand at another drama.

Smigel's pretty talented, but they'll play this too safe. I'd love to see these two get back to their roots of dirty sophomoric comedy (Sandler), and biting racial/social comedy (Rock)...(jesus, like I actually had to explain that) and make an unapologetic R-rated comedy like Blazing Saddles. This will just end up being some Grown-Ups/Guess Who (the abominable Bernie Mac redo) mash-up bullshit, with cute little cameos from Kevin James, David Spade etc. Look, I've seen pretty much all of

He's a decent talent, wish he would do more stuff like Punch Drunk Love and Reign Over Me...he should find a decent dramatic project and throw everyone a curveball. I just realized I typed way too much about Adam Sandler...time for another beer.

At least Sandler has enough sense to surround himself with smarter and funnier comedians, like Rock, to elevate his vanity projects.
