We learned back in October that Adam Sandler signed a 4-picture deal with Netflix because . . . well, why not? You can argue the merits of his films until the cows come home but the fact of the matter is that they have an audience. Add to that the Netflix factor of being able to watch new content immediately, and it sounds like they both parties have a worthwhile deal going on. If anything, Adam Sandler has proved that he can put together a laundry list of names and word on the street is that his first netflix original, RIDICULOUS 6, will star no less than Sandler himself, Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Blake Shelton, Whitney Cummings, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, Jon Lovitz, Vanilla Ice, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, Chris Parnell and Lavell Crawford. Phew! Get all that?

Some plot points according to The Wrap:

Adam Sandler will play an orphan raised by an Indian tribe with Lautner, Schneider, Wilson and Crews playing his half-brothers. Forte and Trejo will play the leaders of rival gangs and Vanilla Ice will play Mark Twain.

Sounds like the usual rundown with Sandler and crew although I'll admit that having this flick go straight to Netflix is an added incentive, albeit a small one. Given that Sandler signed a 4-picture deal, I'd like to see him experiment with something really different, although one can hardly blame him for delivering the safe picture first. With production starting soon, I imagine this one will hit Netflix before the year's end.

Production on RIDICULOUS 6 is expected to start in February.

If this and THE INTERVIEW are any indication, looks like Eminem needs to be hit up more often for comedic roles.
